There are people spending a fortune on trying to make their own filament. Don't bother. It's cheap enough. You can get a kilogram of decent filament for $10 or $12 bucks. Not worth screwing around.

Most power officially is in the hands of the city council, but many observers feel that it's actually the city-owned LADWP (Los Angeles Department of Water and Power) that really runs the city! In my many interactions with their technical teams over the years, I've always been impressed. Nope. You have to have a legal basis for the original arrest. ICC warrants are meaningless in the U.S. (it's a wholly different question why the U.S. is not a signatory). But diplomatic immunity trumps that as well. No pun intended.

This story is much worse than I realized. Those drinking teenagers who were shooting Orbeez from a Waymo were not just reported to the police, Google/Alphabet literally kidnapped them, locking them helplessly in the vehicle, until police arrived. This is a scenario I predicted years ago, robocars kidnapping passengers and taking them against their will to "authorities". Imagine what Trump's DOJ would do with this power.

Despite the fact that these teens were engaging in low level misbehavior, Google/Alphabet is NOT supposed to be an arresting agent of the government. What if one of those teens had suffered a medical emergency locked in that vehicle? THIS IS HORRIFIC.

Let me be really clear about how horrifically dangerous #Google's plans are to restrict #Android sideloading to "verified developers" (that is, entities for which Google has full verified identity and associated information that they could hand over to authorities on demand).

This means that even though you own your Android device, you cannot install apps obtained from ANY source (except perhaps apps you build yourself that will only be permitted to run on your own device) unless Google knows pretty much everything about who created that app.

The ways that this could be abused are so numerous I won't even start listing them here, other than to note that it is absolutely horrific overreach by Google and at least appears to be Google bending over for abusive government demands, and could put already vulnerable individuals and groups at even more risk.

Starting July 7, Google will be pushing Gemini down the throat of Android users by default whether they want it or not. You can jump through hoops to turn it off from various apps, but it's confusing for most users and the email Google sent about this was also confusing as hell. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that it wasn't meant to be confusing, but
it was typical Google technospeak from the Bros who have no idea how ordinary people live and work.

Bottom line, despite articles trying to put a positive spin on this change, Google is forcing Gemini AI onto everyone by default rather than providing affirmative opt-in. Yes, that's evil.

You can do what you want with Chromium today. The reason that the DOJ push for Google to sell off Chrome is so incredibly dangerous is that Chrome is an integrated part of the Google ecosystem that supports billions of people. It is tightly integrated with the crucial security and privacy systems at Google (both of which are world class) and the last thing consumers need is their security and privacy being put at risk by forcing it to be distributed to other firms without the resources to protect it properly. Absolutely a gross and irresponsible proposal, that shows that either DOJ doesn't understand the technical realities or is ignoring them.
