I don't think it's a phase. I've been this way since I was a child and if anything it's gotten worse. It's an issue with more than music. For me, there's little difference between most music and a squeak, voice, or many other sounds that drive me nuts. I've gotten a lot better at managing it as I've aged though. Maybe it's a phase in that sense. I'd gladly let it go if I could. Thankfully, some sounds seem to have the opposite effect for me. Cello in particular for some reason.

I was actually camping with a buddy recently and he played a selection of some of his music like this. Stuff he listens to while working. Drove me nuts. But, there are many things off with me. This is one of them. Certain noises drive me nuts. Squeaks, music, lots of things. Don't know why

I've been called a psychopath for usually driving in silence 😂

I don't share the relationship with music that many seem to. Most of it bothers me to varying degrees. It's overwhelming and makes me anxious.

I've found that I like certain instruments (mostly piano and cello), but almost nothing with vocals.

Chopin and similar sounds work well for me.

There's also something wrong with (I'm not a psychopath) and I understand most people aren't like this. I find it interesting too. I don't want to feel so badly about music but always have.

It seems like it's where the keyboard was but the space never goes away. I've never seen it on any other app in GOS. I haven't seen it in Amethyst either, but Nostr apps, including Amethyst, have had weird issues with keyboards for years. Not sure why. Maybe clients are sharing some code that causes issues in multiple apps?

I keep recommending the Entropia product from SeedSigner (or just general concept, however you do it). I guess you could print them but the pills don't stick and work better for me.

For anyone curious:

I verified against the BIP39 list when the 3D printed pill sheets arrived to make sure the words were accurate.

I then mixed them very well in a large mixing bowl.

I move my hand throughout the mixture with no particular pattern for a while and then pinch one of the pills to remove it.

From there, I drop the pill from about one to two feet onto a hard surface and allow it to bounce until it settle. Sometimes they fall onto the floor. No matter what, I go with the word facing up, even if it lands on the floor, cat bowl, whatever.

Then add the word back into the mix and repeat. I've seen people not do this and it's a big mistake. A phrase can and should be able to have the same word more than once. This has happened to me before on a real seed generation mission. Very unlikely, but that's entropy. It happens.

Calculate the 24th word however you decide to for a valid wallet. I used the SeedSigner and drew another word. I think it allows a die roll and maybe a coin?

This is the purest entropy I've found. I'd prefer non-double side but it would be far more cumbersome. I'm comfortable with adding in my drop method.

Anyway, if I'm fucking up, let me know. This is what I'm doing for at least part of my new security model.

My npub is mine. Yours is yours. I don't need to post anything other than Bitcoin related things if I don't want to. But the digital versions, like today, can be taken back on a whim, altered, etc. While the paper books, assuming they don't get destroyed in some other way, are closer to ownership for the rich people. But that again is a different issue than simply online vs offline. This would miss the point that poor people will likely have access to ever cheaper technology that makes such issues less important. Maple is a lot better with the web connection option enabled. My problem is that I forget to toggle it and don't realize it until I get goofy answers that seem outdated (it turns out they are). The answers are far better after enabling the web connection.

Why not allow me to just have it default to enabled? I've never wanted outdated information. And even if I did, the model could still access it even with a web connection.

Also, it took me a while to figure out how to enable it. It should be more clear in the UI. There isn't even a context popup when you hover over the tiny icon.

The license draws no distinction between who is and isn't permitted to sell the software (big or otherwise). My biggest issue with it is the reliance on the company. Such a license is a disincentive for someone else to improve their code because it's for profit and the developers can't sell the improved version. In my opinion, this probably reduces the resources that would otherwise go into the code base, even if they came from a competitor. They could also be bought out (or somehow taken over) and leave us all as bag holders if the new company decided to abandon or taint the software somehow. A competitor couldn't step in and sell us a better version.

They aren't the only ones with such a model and they are more open than many other products and services. I think the problem people have is that they use the "open source" battle cry when, historically, that's meant FOSS. Some people have tried to change that culture and there's natural resistance. They should call it "source available" because that's what it actually is culturally.

I understand WHY they did this, but it's antithetical to FOSS (what most think of as open source) and I would have no interest in contributing to a for profit (I have no issue with profit) codebase (as an unpaid "open source" contributor) that I'm not allowed to sell myself. I think more people would work on it if that wasn't the case, but that's speculation. They chose to get pissed at people for doing what their own license permitted.

As for the hardware, I've had two different models fail within a year of purchase. I've used some of their competitors (those they've attacked) products without issue for years. The company, or at least some people in it, have piss poor attitudes that many people don't like. I've found myself in that boat as a former customer. Their support team is great though. They sent new devices. I want to be fair here.

Something like SeedSigner (nprofile…u2rf) , although imperfect, embodies the Bitcoin and open source ethos much better, in my opinion.

I'm tired of buying products and services that clearly show how little I mean to the seller. Fortunately, I've been able to replace most of the garbage with better stuff over the past several years.

SoapMiner (nprofile…d5tl) is one great example. You can tell that the consumer is important because the product is squared away. Good ingredients, packaging, construction, etc. It arrives and all I have to do is wash away the dirty aspects of my own work. The product helps me focus on providing value instead of fixing another broken product.

BenJustman (nprofile…66av) and his wine is another. When I need wine, I order his. Why? I don't get headaches. I don't feel like garbage when I drink it. It tastes wonderful. The packaging is beautiful. He doesn't cut corners. He cares about the product, and therefore the consumer.

I haven't needed a new wallet yet, but when I do, Leathermint (nprofile…2s0f) is on the radar for that. I'm seeing the same good traits in that builder.

Alternatives to legacy social media built on #Nostr helped me find these people, making it clear that there's room for a completely parallel world to the fiat system.

I don't remember where I was going with this (typical 😂), so thanks to the producers giving me good products. I'm sure there are many others on Nostr that I'm unaware of or haven't purchased from yet.

I had a breakthrough today that I'm still processing, but I think it's going to reduce my general anxiety a lot.

I spend a ton of time fighting battles in my head that I may never actually have to fight. This is obviously exhausting and can get in the way of enjoying my life.

I suspect this is a defense/coping mechanism stemming from years of childhood abuse. I spent most of my childhood anticipating and planning for the next wave to roll in.

The catch is that this thing has had benefits for me. I'm able to sit and perform medical procedures, interviews, difficult conversations, etc. in my head hundreds of times before doing the real thing. I believe this has helped me, even if it is rooted in anxiety.

But at some point I have to tame whatever this is (I'm sure there's a term for it in psychology).

I'm curious whether anyone else has this sort of thing in their head.

I agree, but a nation's politics is generally a reflection of its culture. One can't have a state and then expect to be completely separated from the deeds of that state. Unfortunately, it is the case that bad culture (mostly collectivism from what I see) leads to even worse states over time that become incredibly difficult for people to change.
