It's rather technical (the wiki article doesn't really help either) but it's basically a vast abstraction of the idea of a parametrized family of composable n-ary operations, independent of what is being operated on.

I never studied them but there's a lot of cool patterns and diagrams that arise, not to mention some beautiful applications to math and physics

spent some more time tinkering with #uxn. got nerd-sniped by the (integer) `sqrt` routine defined in the math library (https://wiki.xxiivv.com/site/uxntal_library.html). looks like it's a clever iterative application of the formula for the sum 1+..+n.

according to wikipedia there's plenty of ways to compute square roots. i suppose when it comes to a uxn implementation it's a matter of optimizing for need, time, and space

also! more small-brush #shodo #calligraphy practice. i really should start learning more interesting kanji (maybe next time i'll try to transcribe some sentences from actual text!)

Obtained a hand-me-down 35mm film camera! It's a 1969 Nikon F, and I'm totally ready to waste a roll of film on a bunch of blurry underexposed shots!

Managed to work through the neat little #uxntal code snippet for printing hex that I mentioned on day 19! The power of dual-wielding stacks is not to be underestimated

Also: noticed that the official uxntal #treesitter grammar is slightly incomplete, as it doesn't know about anonymous labels. Maybe I can learn enough about the grammar DSL to contribute a patch this week.
