Our event went great, sauna ceremonies for cypherpunks are a thing!

To commemorate, this release comes from several AI audits of security and functionality across the coordinator, the web app and the Android app.

What's new

- Mentions in chat, on web and Android. Type @ to pick a person to mention. Mentions show as names with profile pictures instead of raw npubs, and White Noise sees them as tagged users.
- Reactions, edits and deletes in chat, everywhere. React to a message, edit or delete your own, and see changes made from the other app or from White Noise.
- The web app and Android now do the same things. We went through both apps screen by screen and closed the gaps.
- Offline event pack on Android. One tap saves an event to your phone, including people, matches, talks, the event page, posts and profile pictures, for venues with no signal.
- See what hasn't been sent yet on Android. A chip shows changes waiting to send or that failed, and you can retry or discard each one.
- Key backup on Android. Back up your key to a file or email it to yourself, as on the web.
- "View as visitor" on Android. Organizers can check what their event looks like to people who haven't joined.
- No hidden details in uploaded audio and video. Location, device and other metadata are removed from files you pick, on both web and Android, before they're uploaded. A file that can't be cleaned isn't sent.
- Removing someone sticks. A removed member can't get back in by reusing an old invite code, re-joining, or waiting for the organizer to attach a new coordinator. A removal shows as queued until it has actually been sent.
- Safer organizer edits. Changing settings no longer undoes a change made on another device a moment earlier.
- Separate member lists for same-named events. Two events with the same name on one coordinator can no longer interfere with each other's member lists.
- Recordings and transcripts. A transcript is only available to people who can play the recording. Replacing a talk's recording removes the old transcript.
- Easier sign-in on Android. If your remote signer asks you to approve in a browser, the app now shows an "Approve in signer" link instead of timing out.
- Secret screens are protected on Android. Screens that show your secret key or a login code block screenshots.
- The coordinator recovers by itself. It retries announcements and updates that relays failed to accept right after a restart.
- Communities say "community" throughout the create flow.
- Chat groups stay put

Included from the previous release (0.13.3–0.13.5)

- The web app repairs itself if an update leaves it unable to start, so you no longer have to clear site data.
- Android 0.13.5 fixed a 0.13.2 build that could not open its database after an earlier 0.13.0 install.

Upgrading

The web app updates itself. On Android, update from Zapstore or Obtainium, or download the APK from GitHub. Older apps keep working for now, but please update.

Emanator 1.4.1 for Android and the web

Interactions moved into the bottom bar.
A reply is a daily errand; the calendar is a plan you look at now and then. The phone bar is now Dashboard, Posts, Interactions, Messages, More. Calendar moved behind More — it keeps its own entry on a tablet's rail, and the bar stays put while the calendar is open.

You can mention people while replying.
Type @ in the Interactions reply box and you get the composer's suggestions: your own accounts first, then people your accounts follow. The pick becomes a real Nostr mention, so the person is notified. Same in the app and on the web.

Copy a note, share it as text.
Every post page has "Copy text" under the note. Settings → Sharing adds a button per network, off by default:
- X opens x.com's compose window with the note already written.
- Facebook and LinkedIn cannot take a post's text from a link: their share endpoints only accept a URL, and a note is not a link. On the web the button copies the note and opens their composer to paste. In the Android app the note goes into their app through the system share, and without the app it falls back to copy and open.

Retry actually republishes.
A failed post that was never signed asks your signer again instead of answering "Cannot retry publishing.". A note that was signed but no relay accepted, and whose signature is older than 15 minutes, is signed again dated now — sending the old event would only bury it — and its reposts are rebuilt with their delays after the new time. A note some relay did accept is resent unchanged, so a retry cannot make a duplicate. Retried replies are dated now instead of the day they failed, and replies can no longer be rescheduled (that path built a plain note and dropped the reply tags).

A reply says what it answers.
The post page shows "In reply to: view the note", on the web and in the app, so a failed reply is not mistaken for a standalone note.

Behind the scenes: imported legacy DMs are stored as history rather than as messages you just sent, and one malformed event no longer aborts the import.

Nostrautica now has a native Android app.

Nostrautica is for any event, from a conference or a meetup to a community that keeps meeting for years. People join, say who they want to meet, and get introductions with the reason for each match. Talks, posts, private messages, group chat (based on Marmot protocol) and the organizer tools are all in the app.

There is no app server: encryption, event keys and group chat run on your phone, against Nostr relays. Sign in with Amber, any NIP-46 signer, or your own key.

If you are not yet on Nostr, you will not only get an event invite, but an identity.

Many updates of the app recently. You can now use it for communities. Faster user interface, more resilient.

And matching algorithm now (experimentally) uses Jev in the main coordinator. The benchmarks have demonstrated better matching. The match reasoning, instroductions, etc. still generated by LLMs.

Another event with Nostrautica! PlanB and ChainCampCZ (nprofile…kxfc)

It is a Czech Bitcoin conference and Nostrautica helped a few people meet and talk, so we declare it a success. We also got a lot of feedback, so the app is better now - mainly UX, speed and reliability changes.

But we're cooking something new - Nostrautica for communities, not only events. For Signal groups, for chess clubs, for everywhere where people would want to get to know each other. Agents working on it as we speak!

If you organize a Nostr meetup, make it easier for people to find each other and talk to each other.

Nostrautica provides a perfect user experience for that - sign in with your Nostr identity, optionally say something interesting about yourself or who you're looking for (your Nostr activity is enough for most users though) and Nostrautica will match you.

Then in person, you either know the smalltalk to start with (Nostrautica even suggests ice breakers) or if you are a cool nerd, just skip small talk entirely.

After the meetup, you already follow everyone you met and have a way to DM them.

I did not know about plektos, very cool.

Few differences:
- it is built around networking. You can record video/audio or write text, also your nostr content is processed to recommend you who to meet during the meetup. It enables events which are pure meetups with prerecorded talks. You can watch the intro content (it's encrypted to the event key, not public on Nostr)
- it is a PWA, not a smartphone app. Which enables few things: We don't need to deal with AppStore/Play Store (ZapStore is for cool people only, I love it, but almost no one uses it). Just add the website to your homescreen on any device and it works.
- it is designed for onboarding non-Nostr users and giving them a usable identity with people that you met at an event. So there are two flows - Nostr users => prepopulated profile, easy onboarding. Not Nostr users => simply fill in display name, optional profile picture and description. After the event, take your follows, conversations, etc. to a proper Nostr client, your conversations live on. So this can be used for normal non-geeky events and magically turn people into Nostr users.
- it can host talks (for the "talks prerecorded, conversation on-site" type of events).

While building Nostrautica, I am testing models with spare tokens to do security, reliability and UX audits.

Some learnings:
- Nostrautica was designed by Fable and implemented by Opus. Pretty good, worked pretty much out of the box, impressive.
- Kimi K3 suggested meaningful improvements, found security bugs, etc. It is a good model, although it was pretty "expensive" (eats many tokens)
- Yesterday I ran a full re-audit (after fixing those bugs) with GPT5.6 Sol, it cost only $20 (limit was $35) and it found even more bugs, including pretty serious security bugs. Race conditions, replay attacks, etc.

My take-away: There is no "this model is best". And if you want to use AI for audits, run more models, they will find different things. And both Kimi K3 and GPT5.6 Sol are great models, GPT5.6 Sol I found to be very good in debugging and finding bugs (much better than Opus - and Fable will chicken out soon).

Nostrautica is going pretty well, we'll use it for our first event in a few days. For those who don't know what it is, it is next-gen decentralized event organizer/attendee app that runs on Nostr, helps match people. If you are on Nostr already, it uses what it knows about you to find you good matches to meet in person. If you are not yet on Nostr, you will have to feed it info about you, but you will end up with Nostr identity - filled profile, already following people, private conversations and contacts. You can then stop using Nostrautica and continue on Nostr-proper.
