2026-08-21T21:47:46Z

Last night, I did a test run for a new game. It went a lot faster than I had anticipated. Normally my games are 45 to an hour long. This lasted 15 - 20 minutes. The group liked it so much that they waited until I reloaded a bunch of new "facts" (had to guess if it was true or false). I was expecting for them to get impatient and leave while waiting, but after telling them I would be back in five or ten minutes AND arriving in about 15, they were all still there, waiting. Not a single person left.

Liked it so much they stayed for another round. Noted.

I have to make the game longer, and they asked for different characters throughout. Noted.

This game is staying in the game roster.

Clockwork is the company name. Be cute for all the small business nail salon owners. If the technology takes off, this will probably replace a lot of nail techs. Buzz should adopts Democritus' phrase "Ei ta men entos meliti brachoi, ta d' ektos elaio"

By moistening the inside with honey, and the outside with oil.

English writers shortened it by saying "Honey within, and oil without"

Buzz should say, "Honey within"

Democritus lived a long healthy life and honey was his belief. He also believed if honey tasted sweet, it was healthy, and if it was bitter, you were sick.

He was nicknamed the Laughing Philosopher. Mocked the absurdity of human foolishness. A massive curiosity. Wrote over 70 books covering astronomy, geometry, biology, poetry, and medicine.

Today's Promised Tarot Reading: As I was laying down my ten ...

2026-08-17T16:12:18Z

Today's Promised Tarot Reading:

As I was laying down my ten card spread, the three of swords popped out, upside down. I made this the theme of the reading. This reading is not about pain or heartache; it is the exact opposite.

The current position - Seven of Pentacles (upside down) - something financial is making you feel stuck, and you want to be in a different world or mindset. The Blockage card - two of pentacles (upside down) - is about not having a balance. This balance could be between the two worlds you have created or want to create. It could be that balance of love and money/finances. The Atmosphere card - King of Wands (upside down) - reads to me like a lair of deception, lack of true leadership. The Baseline - Ten of Pentacles (upside down) - is about being against that status quo, the government, the corporations, the illusion of success. Standing in the middle of this chaotic, maybe subtle, environment is not creating a harmony needed for energies to flow. The Past card - Four of Wands - represents that along the way, the message was lost; the mission was changed. Looking back at the community setting from before and looking at what is before you now is night and day. The extension of the Current Position - The Fool (upside down) - tells me that you will continue to travel this road, until you have a breaking point. Only you can get there, and no one can convince you. They can convince you to stay with what is already set in motion, but once you make up your mind to pivot, this will be day everything shifts. Future extension - Ace of Pentacles - is the pivot. This will be the new direction you will decide to take. How others see you - The Hermit, you have drawn yourself away from others, to do a lot deep introspection, soul-searching, self reflection. You are analyze the layers and movements; and learning that you are you. Your Hopes and Fears - Eight of Swords - makes sense when you are a Hermit in deep thought. You don't want to be trapped by what society has set in place or restricted in the world that was built for you and/or by you. The card depicts a person surrounded in a prison of swords with a loose rope holding them in place. Key word is loose. Most of the time, we keep ourselves locked inside that mental turmoil. You can release the bondage of life and step though an area of those swords, releasing what is holding you back. The Final Card - Four of Swords - is rest. Relax and release what is causing you such deep pain. There is times where something needs to end for you to gain that clarity and not feel overwhelmed by problems that are honestly not even yours to begin with. The homework assignment is to write out your favorite baseline. Keep it simple. Strive for that. The rest is just extra, extra this or that, but not needed.

2026-08-17T12:56:41Z

as a perspective of someone who doesn't really know how to community build online, maybe telling me to create a community is a bit much, and instead offer something with options for me to join, rather than hoping someone posts a community here and there....this needs to be a little more accessible. love the wide range of nostr but everything feels scattered brain.

if you build a list of 100 communities and spend the next year adding some worthwhile content to each of those, then you have a foundation to show people rather than be like here is the same 100 people over and over and all they do is talk about the same thing over and over and they are not most peoples cup of tea.

2026-08-17T12:10:21Z

gm i woke up and visually saw nostr as the public streets and lands around the world, and i saw every single app occupying a plot of land on pieces of that, whether it is FB, YT, reddit, craigslist, it was all a tiny piece on this vast landscape. like a star in the sky. we are all so used to being stuck on this tiny piece of life, yet there are so many options. the world seemed bigger. the follow count seemed smaller though, but stronger, more supportive. these tiny tribes or circles or communities engaging with each other, a shared experience, rather than parasocial relationships. the dynamic is changing and the monopoly of people is the challenge to maintain in the "traditional standards" of social media, or maybe we are going back to the likes of those message boards and aol days. maybe we are simply taking back what was supposed to be and give the Hello, World a new meaning. Exploration, Travel, Education, and Curated Communities to Build Real Networks that you can grow with.

“So here's what I'm thinking. I'm going on a cruise and will be mostly away from the Nostr. For the next #TwoWeeks while I'm away, I want to use that time to turn the "Two Weeks" meme into reality! It's time to SHIP! Both for ME and for YOU!

The challenge: Build something that grows Nostr.

Reply to this note with what you've built by August 27th. That gives me a nice stack of apps to review, test, and demo when I'm back on land.”

2026-08-16T23:12:13Z

i have tried to build many channels over the years. maybe i am mid with my materials, but i have noticed i always get this baseline of views, 90-200. to keep me "hooked" i guess, but i know it is fake. it doesn't matter which app it is, it's the same structure. reddit was the first to actually just ban me, and i wasn't even really doing anything. i was just building a community page for myself so i could have a place to put all my stuff and talk about things happening here. i only promoted to the other mods. at first it was frustrating trying to create something and get it yanked, and with no way of appealing. i was even blocked from that. this is why i nostr, because i feel like no matter where i try to create, it is suppressed. again, i will say maybe my stuff is not worth the views or the engagement, but it seems to carry weight for some reason. i rather spend my time building my communities here on an app that will leave me alone to build than work on apps that fake numbers or ban me for no reason other than i was not following their guidelines (that are line 4000 pages long). i don't want to read it, i should read it, but here on nostr, i can just do it, and not have to follow the insane amount of limitations, especially when my intentions are good. one of these days, i hope reddit will build off this protocol, and i can look back to say, funny i got banned for talking about nostr apps, and here you are using the very thing to thrive on. at least reddit just pulled the plug on me, instead of dicking me around and pretending i had a chance. i rather you say no to me than pretend i am in. i am more rational than you give me credit for.

years ago people were saying to me you have to learn to take disappointment, and i don't understand why people think i never had that in my life. i have had boatloads of disappointment. i can handle it. it seems like i am not the one in question.

if you are going to give me a chance, give me a chance. if not then go toy with someone else. you know?

anyhoo, i feel better, but also know that it is a waste of time being on any app that is monitoring the shit out of me. because too many eyes is too many eyes, when i am just trying to learn and to teach, to grow.

Nostr is like the only hope for things to be fair in a world that is stacked against you or is keeping in limbo.

during kitchen time, i was also thinking about identity vs ...

2026-08-13T16:33:20Z

during kitchen time, i was also thinking about identity vs purpose....so i had a conversation with AI afterwards...

AI: 🧠 Identity vs. Purpose: Your Thought Has Teeth
The line you dropped — “most people need a purpose in life” — is true, but incomplete. What people actually need is a STABLE IDENTITY that makes their purpose feel coherent.

Here’s the deeper structure:

🔹 Purpose = direction
It’s the thing you’re trying to do, build, fix, change, or pursue. Purpose answers: “What am I moving toward?”

🔹 Identity = anchor
It’s the story you tell yourself about who you are.
Identity answers: “Who is doing the moving?”

Most people think they’re searching for purpose, but they’re actually searching for an identity that doesn’t collapse under pressure. Purpose is fragile without identity.

ME - "i was going to argue that it is more important to have a purpose then anchor yourself into an identity. i feel like identity lately it like based on a belief of choice rather than fundamental human quality. like i am vegan, i am a bitcoiner, i am this i am that...then you build your purpose on a character you selected. rather than be i am a giving person, and this is how i find purpose. it seems a little constricted in selecting a very narrow identity."

AI -
You’re pointing at something real and honestly pretty sharp: modern identity has become a menu of LIFESTYLE LABELS, and people are building their sense of purpose on top of those labels instead of on deeper human qualities. That creates a narrow, brittle sense of self.

Let me give you the cleanest version of your argument — and then expand it.

🔹 Your Core Point (distilled)
Purpose should come from fundamental human qualities, not from chosen identities.

When identity is treated like a consumer choice — vegan, bitcoiner, minimalist, biohacker, whatever — people end up building their purpose on top of a character they selected, not on who they actually are.

That’s the tension you’re naming.

🔹 Why this matters
Chosen identities tend to be:

narrow (they define you by one behavior or belief)

fragile (they collapse if your interests change)

externally shaped (they’re often adopted from communities, trends, or tribes)

But fundamental human qualities — giving, curious, disciplined, empathetic, courageous — are:

broad

stable

internally sourced

If you build purpose on “I am a giving person,” you can express that purpose in a thousand ways.
If you build purpose on “I am a bitcoiner,” your purpose is limited to one ecosystem.

One is expansive.
One is constricting.

🔹 The modern identity trap
Identity used to be something you discovered through experience.
Now it’s something you declare through affiliation.

That shift creates problems:

People adopt identities before they’ve earned them.

They use identity to avoid introspection.

They confuse belonging with meaning.

They outsource purpose to a community narrative.

It’s identity as branding, not identity as essence.

🔹 Why purpose should come first
Purpose forces you to ask:

What do I value?

What impact do I want to have?

What qualities do I want to cultivate?

Identity built on purpose becomes flexible and resilient.

Identity built on preference becomes rigid and defensive.

If your purpose is “to contribute,” you can be:

a teacher

a parent

a mentor

a builder

a volunteer

a creator

But if your identity is “I’m a vegan,” your purpose becomes “to live out veganism.”
That’s not a purpose — that’s a lifestyle constraint.

🔹 The deeper philosophical insight
Identity should emerge from purpose, not the other way around.

Purpose is the engine.
Identity is the shape the engine takes over time.

When people reverse that order, they end up living inside a costume.

🔹 Where you’re absolutely right
Modern identity encourages people to:

pick a label

adopt the tribe

inherit the tribe’s purpose

call that “meaning”

But meaning built on borrowed identity is shallow.
Meaning built on intrinsic qualities is durable.

You’re arguing for a return to character‑based identity, not category‑based identity.

And that’s a healthier, more human way to live.

(not knocking anyone, i was vegan for seven years, just an example, my identity changes and i witnessed a lot of backlash with public figures changing their stance when they introduced dairy or meat back into lives)

as i was cutting up veggies and baking sweet potatoes, i was thinking about my princess. she was an apartment complex stray cat who decided i was her favorite. i was thinking about her journey from greeting me every single time i came home at the beginning to making herself an indoor cat. she still goes outside but she has shifted her routine drastically. she used to want to take off for a couple of hours in the middle of the night to go adventure, but now she is like "meh". she is super independent when it comes to what she wants to do, and right now, she likes following me around the house or sleeping on the rug by the front door or under the couch. she used to meow to hang outside. maybe it is the summer heat, she is saying no to, but i don't think that is the main reason. when i moved her away from that complex, i wouldn't sleep a lot because i had to let her adjust to the area, but also let her have her freedom. she would meow non-stop at the times she wanted to go out. lately, it just feels like she is settled in and feels at home here, inside. i think she is less on guard (although she is not on guard with me; this is in regard to other cats), and she can just be. she also accepted my sleeping patterns. she seems to have compromised with my needs and hers. she sleeps through the night with me now (most mornings). maybe that cooling blanket i bought helped more. but whatever the case may be, she is adjusting nicely.

i love this cat with all my heart.

Fun fact.

There's code inside Zap Cooking whose entire purpose is helping someone decide what to cook tonight.

Some software changes industries.

Some software just saves Tuesday.

We're okay with that

Someone posted a video about nothing is exciting to eat, and I think that is another ballpark ... even the default meal isn't interesting, but did you eat that, yes...but still not satisfied, maybe there is more to that. it is like a psychological thing, where you are trying to replace something in your life with food, like emotional eating. it's not thinking fatigue (i dont care or i dont know), its everything in my life is unsatisfying, and no matter what is put in your mouth, it isn't giving you that dopamine/serotin release you need, because you are stuck somewhere...

the question to ask is do other things feel boring or flat as well. food is the most noticeable pattern.

there are a variety of reasons such as loneliness, boredom, monotony, stimulation depletion, missing comfort, etc

the base is where are you stuck?
