In the past few days I had my goodbye meeting at the Dutch central bank and the authority of financial markets. As the chairman representing the United bitcoin companies in the Netherlands. It’s been an interesting few years.
The totally refurbished building of the Dutch central bank is open for visitors and the amount of interesting things portrayed there is worthwhile for bitcoiners.
“Value of trust” “value of stability” “The value of art”
The first big public piece of the new head of the Dutch central bank is “don’t agree with Eurobonds”. (Link below). This piece might give a tiny bit of hope that further EU integration gets delayed.
There is a high focus on digital resilience in geopolitical uncertain times.
I’ve had naive hope I could change the legacy system.
At least we won lawsuits and were able to reduce the regulatory burden and many millions of cost by having a firm stance. Our lawyer was not allowed at the main board cost meeting anymore after I brought him along once ☺️.
The fight at the European court in Luxembourg will persist through the next chairman. It was great to see us win in the Rotterdam and Supreme Court in the Netherlands, with the Dutch central bank having an army of the best lawyers.
We were able to push an over 5 million cost relieve at AFM under MICAR oversight this year. And we’ve held really strong stances where we could.
It’s time to move on and leave this legacy system behind. We’ll have to build forward on new frontiers. The direction in the Netherlands is unfortunately, stifling innovation. On regulation they are clearly far ahead of any other location on our planet.
I’ve seen what’s coming and it’s going to be tough, but we will be able to use our bitcoin. That is, what matters.

Today I talked a while with an owner of an antique shop. There’s almost zero interest in decent antique furniture. Massive oak remains unsold, while it lasts hundreds of years.
People are buying as cheap as possible. He is shifting more and more towards small “antique” bracelets, rings and other junk that they usually just receive for free when they clear houses.
This couple of euros junk just sells.
He also had a couple pairs of shoes of old brands, they last a lifetime, they are basically new but “old fashioned”.
I asked him how old he thought my shoes were. Couple years he answered but still looking good, easily fixable, old fashioned way.
Told him, 3 new soles, 1 new inner work. 21 years old. Wore them couple of times each month…
He said the best pairs should last 40 years wearing them weekly. You can still find a few manufacturers in Europe…

Turning 18 I build my own sound system in my Volkswagen Golf. It was an 11.1 system with 500watt RMS self build subwoofer and self designed casing. JBL 1100 and Sony / JBL speaker combination for optimal sound. Extra battery with capacitor for peaks. It was so much fun being a kid and working my ass off to be able to enjoy the sound. When I upgraded a speaker or tuned it I would put my dad in the car and put on enya, being proud to have tuned it on an even better level.

Chongqing is amazing. The guy I traveled through China with was a banker in China for quite some years, he turned bitcoiner… The amazing thing was we travelled through multiple cities and nature we wanted to visit. He speaks Chinese, so everything we did was exceptional. Traveling through countries with someone who’s fluent in the language and has some kind of excess energy like me has been awesome. I’ve done this in Iran, China, Indonesia, Egypt and many other countries. Enjoy meeting people, enjoy culture, enjoy our planet. Bitcoin will make us all cooperate. Over the past 1+ year we have sold and used Leicke adapters without an issue and they have proven to be great with the Supra, having an amazing track record. Mining with just solar without having need for heat doesn’t make much sense if there is no battery already in place. In the upcoming months we will see major step changes in Europe. The war bonds are now here, but it’s not just the war bonds. The announcements I’ve been hearing in meetings with top officials are bothering me a lot. EU uniformity is forced down everyone’s throats, nobody is going to be able to stop it anymore I believe.
This will have major impact on

It is indeed that true free living through bitcoin is currently not really touched upon yet. When the bitcoin economy, (meaning the real physical economy of exchanging bitcoin for goods and services without touching fiat) grows, next generations might be native to this system, where there are still different systems in existence. It’ll be like consciously knowing you’re progressing freedom vs painfully needing to do things with fiat still. Future generations will be much more aware of this. A theft based vs a merit based system.

The best locations on our planet will be the locations where there is a significant understanding of bitcoin. These locations will be a high proof of work, high educational and atomic family focused communities. Most bitcoiners are searching for truth and take time for proper food, proper building, long term thinking in general. Because currently settlement is still costly and uncertain, I feel most bitcoiners are not going all in on a location. I believe we do need to concentrate on specific locations to make bitcoin in combination with our families prosper. I’m curious what you think these locations are going to be. If you think roaming / nomadic lifestyle will be the future we still need the locations to nomad through. Proper low time preference livings that can be lived in for longer periods will then be critical. A Hapimag style of ownership and “rent” would then become interesting. Hapimag is a Swiss shareholder owned resort “company”. The setup should be improved a bit and building at prime locations across the globe for more permanent living would be welcomed by a lot of bitcoiners. It would be our citadel mesh network owned and operated by bitcoiners. Where also your shares hold value due to ownership of worldwide real estate. The way you can use the points you build up or buy has been really great over the past decades. I believe a framework like Hapimag but very much improved for long term stay is something a lot of bitcoiners would be interested in.

When the last physical interview between Klaas Knot (dutch central bank and head of the global financial stability board) and Jerome Powell took place there was clear tension between the two. According to Powell central banks should not mingle with sustainability and diversity, focus on your core task of price stability.

Support the direction of decentralized socials. Are you right, most likely. But being able to zap might become a big game changer. You might get a Nostr profile, because when it catches on, it actually is a great gateway to truly use internet money for socials.
Took both Damus purple for BitcoinBrabant (npub1qvw…2h4p) and primal legend for my personal profile. I do believe this network has sufficient freedom to be used in the proper way. An easy gateway into it through more centralized platforms is exactly how bitcoin works currently.
People use an exchange. They don’t buy a node, a hardware wallet and do a peer to peer transfer. They need a gateway. Primal, Damus etc will be the gateway. And if we don’t meet people where they are, the number of us will simply decline. The amazing technology of bitcoin micropayments needs to be spread far and wide. Supporting platforms that make it accessible easily is key, for now.

Podcasts, explainers on text & video, more educational material, workshops.
We will start selling:
- a new pre installed node
- bitaxe specials
- new options for self custody (like portal)
We will keep on funding:
- open source development on bitcoin in the form of open source mining, Nostr, software
- workshops and educators

Due to more expensive excess electricity and optimizing battery output with renewable installations we are also aiming at installing more miners where it’ll make sense. Also on the home mining perspective we’ll keep pushing new products that are a game changer.

We still lost bitcoin as we purchased more stock and on average the euro value of bitcoin increased more than the sales value of the products. Nevertheless we are happy with what we achieved. €150k on bitcoin payments. €100k on fiat payments.

Yesterday I was bringing packages away at the local delivery point in my hometown. I ran across a guy I used to cycle to high school with. This was over 20 years ago… he was not looking good at all. So I brought up some old discussion topics we used to have when cycling. We both liked the Nissan skyline GTR back in those days. It gave him a big smile. He said he lost it after high school. First worked a bit in a warehouse, but was lost to alcohol and drugs and started stealing. He told me he was famous in the city of Oss for his steals. This guy was in the highest grade high school and has been roaming the streets for 20 years now. It’s sad to see so many people lost, even in a small town like this. When I grew up I never expected to see so much decline. I moved back to my hometown a couple years ago, but this doesn’t look like the place where I grew up in. We’re not going to expose our kids to this toxic environment. We have some ideas to move. Where would you move to?

If we read through the Dutch news over the past months we have consistently seen messaging about cyber threats and combatting misinformation. Many papers created by institutions have been hammering down on controlling the internet.
The latest “make sure you have cash at home” is the third one in a couple of months. Dutch department of defense, Dutch central bank and now the national association of banks.
A total crackdown on freedom on the internet because of “cyber threats” is not out of the question. The majority of the Dutch people support a crackdown on misinformation and control of social media now… A simple “attack” would easily put emergency measures in place. The few that are still here have plans to leave that are very concrete. We have a sovereign setup in the Netherlands and will push freedom for bitcoiners as far as we can go. Yesterday we had the first major outage of electricity at my sisters place (local outage, couple hundred households were affected). Coincidentally we already ordered 30KWh emergency backup batteries for our locations, not yet installed. We expect a lot more outages in the future. With 30KWh we can run quite a while, but when will we have them full? We are planning to deplete them with mining… a minimum level for emergencies is required I would expect… if we look at our consumption we can push it under 2kwh per day easily and we have sufficient solar even for winter to generate a couple kWh per day. So a depletion below 5kwh is maybe not wise… curious what Nostr thinks about this…

It’s 5 degrees Celsius outside and I’m heating our living room with bitcoin. It’s hashing to our BitcoinBrabant (npub1qvw…2h4p) DATUM OCEAN (npub1qtv…7dze) pool. We’re reducing natural gas consumption radically. We’ve just ordered a new 30KWh battery pack to start smart steering with our 44 solar panels positioned on East (12 x 480) West (12 x 480) and south (20 x 320). We will monitor the upcoming year with fluctuations and looking forward reducing grid reliance as much as possible. We’ll even have an emergency switch for when the power on the grid is gone.
All our systems are backed with multiple internet connections. Both 5G and Glassfiber (1.2GBit/s). We have starlink as a backup. We recently had to change our glassfiber ISP as we got serious issues with our TOR connections. We now paid off the 2 year contract and switched to Freedom internet as ISP. Best choice ever, we haven’t had any problems since. We’re on our way to sovereignty.

As an official reseller (by taking over the shop of SatsVault (npub1l72…gwtp) ) of Coinkite (npub12ct…c5ky) products like COLDCARD (npub19ca…qj29) and opendime etc. we now have to ask ourselves if we want to proceed with selling these products. The behavior of N (npub1az9…m8y8) against open source development in the space is strange to see. The products are fantastic, but why would you attack it with a cease and desist order?
So a request for comments and dialogue here on Nostr as one of the largest resellers of Foundation (npub1s0v…pq6j) SeedSigner (npub17ty…3mgl) BitBox (npub1tg7…cxmt) Blockstream (npub1jg5…6n8n) Jade, bitaxe, books and educational material and a lot of other products is in place. We just a couple of days ago restocked on coldcard Qs and to be honest the margins are the worst on the products out of any manufacturer. We always have significant stock levels because we want to be able to deliver directly and safely, we invest in this and therefore have high stock levels on the coinkite products currently. If we would dump the products this would mean a significant loss now and in future revenue. So this is a complex decision. Because a lot of people use these solutions for amazing setups with npub1cvqlzvmjercdn0ypsmv8f7j9lge6ahsnueh5rparh53wuswftv4q49yjt3 (npub1cvq…yjt3) and craigraw (npub1hea…g9v2) sparrow FE. So this post is a sentiment check. Let’s see how the bitcoin community feels about all this drama. We’re here for the bitcoiners. And will always supply what is asked by the plebs and we’re here for the plebs. Doing our best to supply freedom since #700.000. Oh and btw, every drama is good for bitcoin. Normally when you would do a give away on socials, people have to repost like and comment. With Nostr a raffle element could become an amazing opportunity.
You zap the post and an open source raffle random pull shows the winner.
NostRaffle (just a random name that we thought would work) should be a webpage where the shops can fill in their product, the zap amount, the time until the moment the raffle closes.
Is something in this direction for either giveaways or raffles on Nostr already built?
Would love to support this, because it would help us a lot. The important part is transparency in these things. Many giveaways and raffles just go to people that the shipowners know or they even create fake outcomes, running their own bot to boost the post and then giveaway to their own bot.
