Battery on the Apple Watch Ultra 4 has been exceptional. I got it on Friday morning, and I’ve just put it on to charge for the second time.

2 x a week is very good.

That’s been sleep tracking every night, and 3 x 80 minute gym workouts.

Anthropic’s Fable is unreal.

Whilst adding features to my iOS LGTV controller app last night, I hit up on a blocker where an internal API provided the functionality I needed, but I was unable to call it.

It established that creating an alert with that internal API call as the close completion handler and then immediately closing the alert will result in the function being called.

It modified my CLI app to test this and then reported back. I’m now able to add a ton more functionality to the app.

My dad is partially sighted with poor motor control. He likes audiobooks but every player I tried had tiny buttons and too many screens.

I’ve now made this one. Two screens, big controls, high contrast.

When I want to send him a new book, I just text him a link — he taps it and the book appears in his library.

It always comes back to the last book he was playing, ready to play again.

The settings are configurable via a link too.

This is very much made for my exact specific needs with him, but it’s open source and free if it helps anyone else.

Started playing Batman: Arkham City. Plays exactly the same as Asylum so far, which is great for me. Looks nicer and still runs at 90 fps on the Steam Deck after a config file edit.

Loving these games.

Absolutely love Amiga emulation using the Steam Deck. With the smart cropping making it nicely full screen, the on screen keyboard that emulates mouse input for trainers… it’s just perfect. Going through Rick Dangerous 2… it’s amazing how much you remember from these games. 34 years and I still recall what switches are traps.

2024-12-05T10:41:36Z

I’ve had some heart issues pop up recently, atrial fibrillation. Very irregular and only two episodes. I will eventually need an operation but I was told to let the blood service know, as I’m a regular blood donor. The doctor said I would be fine to give blood, but they will have their own rules and protocols. I phoned them and now I’ve been told I’m not allowed to give blood anymore, which is a real gut punch.

Really disappointed with how the blood service handled it. Bearing in mind I’ve done this for years and given over 30 pints of blood, it was just a straight up “you can’t do it anymore, bye” and then they immediately closed my online account without saying anything

1 year ago today I gave up alcohol and shortly after started TRT.

I was obese, always sweating, had problems with my feet… all gone. I’m now a healthy weight, only sweat when working out… can work out, and have zero pain. I’ve not been ill for an entire year, not even a cold.

I’ve lost just shy of 5 stone/70 lbs/32 KG. Gone from an XL to a small or medium shirt, and lost 8 inches on my waist size.

Honestly, it’s the best decision I’ve ever made. I look and feel so much younger.

Done the yearly finish of Super Mario World using the RG35XX SP this time. Currently my favourite form factor. I always end up missing a level, so 95, instead of 96. I tried to be so careful this time and still missed one.

Only finished 7 games this year, was 55 last year, but I’ve been focusing on improving my self.

Gutted there was no new Quake or Quake 3 remaster at QuakeCon 2024. I love FPS games, and Quake is right up there for me.

However, they did announce this amazing Doom sound track recreation, IDKFA.

And the best bit? There are already mods to load it in to GZDoom as a sound track replacement, so last night I was playing Quest GZDoom with amazing music!
