I've been talking about open-world factory games all week, let's cover another topic: routing.

A ton of the complexity of a factory game comes from moving resources around. Inputs and outputs jockey for position.

However, while the complexity of a base often comes from difficulties routing things around, the opposite is also true: the function of a base is made legible through belts.

Anyone that's familiar with Factorio knows how to both read and write the language of belt layouts.

The strength is the city.

There's just something really, really nice about exploring a city.

This is something I always find to be true. Most games that feature a city - or any kind of open, structure-heavy world - are games I instinctively try to explore my way through, regardless of that game's actual intention.

Of course, 2077 doesn't really want you to explore the city. It's rather incoherent about it.

Decided to get a ramen packet since I'm out of food at home. Had to choose between Maruchan and Top Ramen, and WOW are these nutrition facts sleazy as FUCK.

Both are nearly identical. Maruchan hides its salt behind "oh... uh, servingsperpackage2" like anyone has ever eaten half a fucking ramen packet.

Top Ramen is even worse. It says "servings per package: 1"

And then lists the nutrition facts PER HALF PACKAGE.

Full nutrition facts are hidden behind the seam.

So sleazy. Soooo sleazy.
