There's an "Add to preferred source on Google". So now I'm distracted by that function. Never seen that before.

Thanks for the article. A big issue in that discussion is the term "water use". People hear that and think "they're using my drinking water!". But I suspect and hope that often they're diverting non-potable water, raising the waters temperature slightly, and pumping it back to the waterway again. That's very different from one-time, irreversible use of drinking water.

Thank you. I offer this in return. The crest of a small snowdrift has slowly been twisted by wind and weather into the shape of a crashing wave. The falling tip of the curl barely touches the snow below. I spotted this on the edge of a narrow path in our community garden. The wind would have been constant from the far side and the snow slightly sheltered on the near side. #photography #snow #winter

Language, oppressive or otherwise, is not violence. Violence is violence. If you start calling language violence you are taking a powerful word away from victims of violence and putting it into a box of inflationary language. Try telling the victim of a gang beating that the racist drunk cussing at the black bartender is being violent. Does that feel right?

I don't understand the logic here. Is this some sort of cultural cancel culture? Because a current cultural (religious/ethnic) group are doing something arguably deplorable, memorials to historical persecution should be cancelled? I would agree if the current government was unveiling new monuments, but as you say, we're talking about the suffering of grandparents. We're should continue to leverage memories of past victims to bring focus to current victims.
