Very slow year for editorial work! Had the idea a couple days ago that I should start working on some portfolio pieces that push in new directions for me -- but that was hijacked by this idea for a comic about just binning my own style for other, more marketable trends.

This is not actually a major concern for me, as I've been commissioned on multiple occasions to do illustrations in other styles and those kinds of jobs are pretty darned fun.

Are there any #nomadnet gurus out there who can help me troubleshoot my node?

And it seems to work fine both on the machine I'm hosting it from and when I connect from my Android tablet. There's a link on that page that says [Enter The CUNICULUS], which goes to a Python script which works locally, but never seems to load from another device. Does that link work for anyone out there?

Needed an editor for making text art with the teletext characters up in the Symbols for Legacy Computing block of Unicode. Didn't find one that I liked, so I started making one.

I'm seeing a lot of articles talking about how a lot of college grads are unemployed and how college isn't a guaranteed pathway to a career/job anymore (was it ever?), and the general opinion seems to be, well, I guess there's no point in going to college anymore!

Which is mind-blowingly stupid. Spending some time in university isn't JUST a career on-ramp -- it's supposed to make you a more broad-minded, complete, and capable person -- and is most beneficial for folks disinclined to self-study.

I find it weird that whenever I see someone in a cafe with a code editor open on their laptop, it's just one single window, full-screen.

If I have emacs open at all, it's always two or three frames, because I'm constantly looking back and forth between functions to figure out what they're saying to each other.

Granted, I think my coding style is, uh... baroque? Is that a nice way of saying it's pasta time, all the time: :D

Ah, I'm glad you brought this up, because it was a deliberate choice.

Initially, the pedestal had line art (see the attached image) but I was concerned that it was taking focus away from the terminal. So, I gave it the same painted treatment as the background to try to make it look more like a background element. But maybe it doesn't work!

If anyone else wants to chime-in on this, please do!

Got the background done, although I'm not 100% sold on what's on the screens. Also, thanks to [@peron](https://mastodon.sdf.org/@peron ) for a couple of those bits of line art.

Next on the to-do: character/terminal art for a few more characters. And yes, I think I need to get Milia in there, even though she's not a bridge operator.

Thinkin' about doin' some new art for SDF.ORG (npub1q3e…l84l) . It's been in the back of my head for a while to do something with the Macross operators, but I had this particular idea while watching the ITS bootcamp orientation video the other day. With all the bootcamps, maybe SDF needs a recruitment poster!

But who should be on it? Misa? Claudia? Vanessa? ...?

Fedi, the great thing about posting a #drawing like this around here is that if we play "name that teletype" I'll get a correct answer in < 10 minutes, very likely from one of my #SDF comrades.

Posted this on Instagram a while ago and ... it's a different crowd over there. :)
