In some states, autism is reportable to a variety of government agencies you may not want knowing you are autistic. This was much more of a problem when I was in my teens and '20s I suspect.

We have that RFK talk of "healing camps" too to be aware of.

Do remember though that my specific circumstance is one of not requesting benefits and mostly wanting to be left alone. I would walk away from $50,000 a year to avoid a 10% risk of someone trying for guardianship for instance.

I am actually glad that autism short of nonverbal was not recognized while I was growing up. I faced enough shit as it was, and the lack of any legal/medical records that I am autistic (no formal diagnosis) has saved me from a hornet's nest of official discrimination and problems.

Best would have been if my parents had known but NOT the docs or the schools of that era.

This is actually a very old problem, and it literally puts civilians in the line of fire by mixing them with legitimate targets of war. Carrying munitions to war zones in the holds of passenger vehicles is how the Lusitiania got torpedoed in WWI, back in 1915.

The German U-boat commanders had a choice: torpedo ocean liners carrying ammunition to their enemies in the UK or let those munitions pass and be used against them. Some of them (probably not all for obvious reasons) chose to torpedo passenger ships.

When that torpedo hit Lusitania, there was a massive secondary explosion that sank the ship. One torpedo was not powerful enough to kill a ship that size by itself. The U-boat's log reported "an extraordinarily heavy detonation followed, with a very large cloud of smoke (far above the front funnel). A second explosion must have followed that of the torpedo (boiler or coal or powder?). . ."
While it is believed by many that coal dust was what actually exploded, the presence of munitions may have been why the torpedo was fired at all.

Note that while some munitions (4.2 million rounds small arms ammo, empty shrapnel shell casings, 18 cases of fuzes) were on the ship's manifest as declared cargo, in 2009 .303 small arms ammunition was recovered from the ship in a place other than where the declared munitions were supposed to be.

Those 303 rounds were intact, further suggesting the blast that sank the ship was a coal dust fuel-air explosion. Even wheat can do this, in the Middle Ages mills carried warnings against candles, as a single flame could ignite grain dust and blow the mill to splinters. Still, no munitions would have meant no torpedo to set off all that coal dust.

Have we learned nothing since 1915? Munitions travel today on civilian aircraft, and the war in Ukraine is often fought in trenches.

Frederick, MD—A group of Frederick residents pulled together to defend the Taskers Chance neighborhood after Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) staked out the area Thursday to Friday. The encounter lasted nearly 40 hours and involved scores of people – from the neighborhood itself, from Frederick, and from surrounding counties – working together to keep one another safe from the threat of ICE.

Reportedly, the stake out began when ICE pulled over an individual in Taskers Chance early Thursday morning and threatened to break their window if they did not exit the vehicle. Somehow, the person escaped.

After that, numerous ICE vehicles descended on the neighborhood, sitting at corners and on residential streets, quietly menacing the community. Some people were afraid to leave their homes. Parents did not know if they could safely bring their children to the bus stops, what with a black-tinted Nissan Maxima belonging to ICE now stationed by at least one of those stops.

Even more concerning, on the second day of what one observer called “a siege,” ICE pulled over a community member as they left Taskers Chance to go to work. Though the person was let go, they were badly shaken

In response to this, the community organized a neighborhood watch to monitor agents’ activity. The residents formed impromptu watch points and began recording ICE movements. Volunteers watched over children as the busses dropped them off. They offered to escort at risk neighbors to work.

As the ICE stakeout entered a second day and word spread, others lent their support. One of those involved in the community effort spoke to DCMG on the condition that they not be identified. They remained in the neighborhood for about a day and served as an observer.

Video of previous ICE actions shared on social media have depicted ICE agents skirting legal boundaries by seizing people without warrants, macing and beating First Amendment protesters, ramming other drivers. and using deadly force to kill unarmed citizens. DHS has in many documented cases, skirted or ignored court orders and directives in response to legal challenges from immigration organizations.

The Thursday over Friday incident in Frederick was no exception to the spotted history of ICE tactics that have played out since this administration adopted a new formula for removal.

Video shared by the observer showed ICE vehicles driving at high speeds down residential streets, circling blocks as an intimidation tactic, and in at least one instant, driving through a stop sign without even slowing down.

In a separate incident on the second day of the stakeout, ICE drove aggressively towards a grandmother who was standing watch on a corner.

According to research by The Marshal Project, ICE and Customs and Border Protection (CPB) have taken 610,000 into custody and placed them in camps, more than the population of Wyoming.

All across the country, ICE, a sub-agency under the umbrella of DHS, has met growing resistance. DHS has drawn severe reprimands from judges and unprecedented reactions from citizens alike as the result of its removal program. The number of deaths of people in its camps was listed by Democracy Now as 57 as on September 4. Its secret flights and lack of notice of where deportees have been taken are raising questions as to international lawful conduct. ICE agents have kidnapped and disappeared 100s of thousands of immigrants since 2025, detained them in crowded cages inside makeshift camps, while under inhumane physical conditions, withheld due process, and deported them to third party countries not of their own origin. Many of the immigrants are legally in the U.S. and waiting in a long queue for citizenship.

The citizens at Tasker Chance were acting in defiance of nationwide federal policy of rounding up immigrants. The combined actions of the neighborhood represent a growing trend of citizens angry at ICE tactics and fearful of the repercussions, yet inspired anyway to organize against State sponsored violence against immigrants not having reached full citizenship.

Neighbors Stand In The Breach For Each Other

They described the neighborhood as “tight-knitted”with a concern of protecting their at-risk neighbors from harm and possible disappearance of their children.

The observer said that there were three levels of support. “There were people from that neighborhood, then there were people from Frederick, and after a call for help went out Friday morning, people from Montgomery County, Baltimore, Hagerstown, and surrounding areas showed up as well.”

There was a mix of experienced activists, some of whom were trained in ICEWatch and rapid response, and others who weren’t trained but just wanted to support their neighbors.

Outside groups began to mobilize to provide food and street medical technical support if needed. It would end up proving to be an important part of the logistics support in the hours to come.

Residents sat on corners in folding chairs holding signs and began their coordinating their 24-7 neighborhood watch. They had no idea how long ICE would be there.

”People organized watches for when the children got on and off the busses because ICE was posted up at a number of corners and intersections, and some of those places were bus stops. ICE wouldn’t move away when the kids were gathered there,” according to the source.

As the night fell, it became apparent what home ICE was targeting because they were parked in unmarked vehicles outside it. Neighbors formed a line outside the home on the sidewalk. They began dancing to music. Fed up with the neighborhood resistance, an ICE agent drove his unmarked vehicle onto the sidewalk in front of the targeted home, ordering the neighbors to get off the property. At the same time another ICE vehicle drove into the street blocking the neighbors from leaving via the street. Some walked onto the grass to avoid getting hit. Video shows the vehicle making contact with a woman. Per the observer, the woman’s foot was run over but her boots prevented injury.

The neighbors locked arms together and formed a human chain in front of the door of the home. ICE agents charged and pushed into them began beating the group. Several were injured. They were later treated by the street medical technicians. Video shows the brutality of ICE agents.

ICE agents went into the home after a youth opened the door. They did not find the person they were looking for. Once the house was cleared, ICE left shortly thereafter.

ICE agents detained one person who was near the porch but released them without charges on the side of a road some distance from the neighborhood.

The County Sheriff Chuck Jenkins showed up and ordered those not living in the neighborhood to return home. And they left.

The source commented on the neighbors who stood up against ICE tactics, saying they were courageous. “Courage isn’t the lack of fear. Courage is taking action despite the fear,” the source said.

Lessons Learned From The Two Day Siege

Several observations can be made based on additional information provided from the source. They reported having observed ICE activities in other neighborhoods in Maryland. This was the longest one of any duration that they observed.

ICE operations were conducted over three shifts for two days. The observer noted between 8 to 10 vehicles of the same make and models. Over 10 to 15 ICE agents were tied down per shift, diverting significant resources from other possible ICE operations areas while this 2-day operation took place.

The close knit neighborhood and network of support and non-violent posture led to a coordinated response from the neighbors and supporters who came to their aid. Many in the neighborhood served as watch outs and communicators of the ICE locations, placing ICE at a disadvantage.

The neighborhood took an interest in protecting itself from an unlawful ICE operation. Nothing the neighborhood did was illegal. They were exercising their First Amendment rights.

ICE, on the other hand is violating basic rights established in the Bill of Rights, such as due process and illegal searches. The time will come when those individuals who are ‘following orders’ will be made to answer for their actions.

There are other factors and details the observer confirmed that remain unpublished. The end result was no one was disappeared from the neighborhood. ICE did not maim or worse, kill anyone. Notwithstanding the injuries sustained by multiple activists, this was about as good a result as was possible.

The country is now in the midst of a serious crisis with respect to immigration enforcement. It has been argued that this is as bad as the period during WWII when the U.S. rounded up Japanese Americans. It is a period many will look back on and describe in unkind terms.

This battle culminated a siege of Frederick by ICE that had gone on 36 hours when ICE backed by county cops assaulted the house. Sometime before the assault it became clear that one house was the objective of the siege.

Defenders had vowed "we leave when they leave" and delivered on that promise. With the enemy's target known community defenders and a lot of neighbors tightened up their defense of that house.

In the opening stage of their attacked, ICE drove on the sidewalk, threatening to ram the defenders.
Note that ICE has become infamous for shooting when these roles are allegedly reversed.

Defenders did not retreat from that attack. Instead they tightened up around the house itself, and set up an arm-locked blockade. ICE then violently assaulted the blockaders.

One ICE orc beat a woman with an Asp metal baton before dragging her out of the way. She was strong enough to get right back up after that beating, not even shaking it off.
What a warrior!

After gaining access to the house, ICE was unable to find the person they intended to kidnap. This made their whole mission a failure by definition. After a total of about 38 hours of siege, ICE slinked away in defeat.

There is even the risk that Signal could be next, though as they are domestic a different legal model would have to be used by Enemy forces. There is however an opportunity to confine this battle to cyberspace. This is done by making the network impossible to target, by making it impossible to find or target those who created it. The computer version of leaderless resistance, or even of many lone wolves who speak to oneanother.

If the next Auttistici/Inventi is done on a .onion-only basis or something similar, it won't be possible to identify the physical server without months or years of investigation. It took them a whole year to find just the Silk Road darknet site as you recall. If a distributed hosting model is used instead (e.g phone and web apps that talk peer to peer over the Internet), there will only be "illegal software" that is impossible to take down due to too many forks. In addition this means no server bills and no financial structure at all.

It is impossible to sanction, raid, or bomb something that does not exist as even a semi-centralized entity. If the software gets taken down from one repo it remains available on many others. Hell, the software could even be distributed as torrents. If the MPAA and RIAA cannot stop torrents neither can the FBI and the Dept of Injustice.

On Android 12 and never, Google Play Services has the option to disable the Advertising ID as well. Pretty sure this sets it to a string of zeros that is the same for all devices with it disabled and thus non-trackable.

I am familiar with that, but as other replies indicate, this would require writing a copy of the encrypted file system back into the original device in order to be able to use the only copy of the disk keys. The rate limit would probably apply even after replacing the user filesystem, so this won't help one bit without a TPM exploit on hardware to get the key material out.

If a TPM/hardware exploit exists capable of extracting the keys, the US military and NSA up until NSPM-7 might have had strong objections to "using it up" on something like a Cop City or even a Praireland case. If they control access to such an exploit, they might deny access to civilian law enforcement lacking the necessary security clearances.

Don't bet your life on that still being the case of course-use a strong passphase and be sure to set a trap by using an easy duress passphrase that any brute-force will hit first.

A table I consulted shows cone 10 at almost 2,400F, which is above the melting point of cast iron and well above that of bronze, and a little below that of common steels.

In other words, a little more and you are in crucible steel territory.

When I was a teenager I experimented with casting aluminum,using entirely homemade equipment from the furnace to the patterns to the molds. When my father was in the hospital with lung cancer, you should have seen his face light up when I brought in an early test casting for him to see!

The downfall of the project was I was trying to do too much too fast-big castings requiring a lot of precision. If I had started with casting that roots blower's end plates instead pf the rotors it might have worked.

Of all the metals things are commonly made of, only magnesium and its alloys are normally likely to sustain a fire in air. Red hot iron will burn to a shower of sparks in pure oxyen but pieces of it large than powder or fine wire go out in air for instance, this is will known and is important in things like welding and cutting steel.

Currenly in many countries, data-only e-sims with no phone service can connect. One provider I checked out (no link as this would violate no-ads policy and also place them at risk) does not allow outgoing SMS to ensure their service is never used for SMS spam.

Since their entire business does not ever provide voice calling or outbound SMS to anyone, they are presumably not classed as a "phone" carrier and slip past these laws. To block these services would probably require a country to block all international data roaming, which can cause tourists not to return.

Seeing reports that up to 1/4 of US farmers have NOT PLANTED this year, as their crops depend on unavailable fertilizer.

Now the Washington Post reports rice farmers in Asia are not planting either, as the reduced yields without fertilizer would lower their gross income below the cost of harvesting this year.

This means the global harvest of all crops except grass fed animal products this year will be greatly reduced, and global food shortages are likely.

To replace chemical fertilizers with the seemingly endless supply of manure from factory farms would require some different equipment, which in turn would have to be manufactured. None of that can be done with fertilizer suddenly disappears weeks before planting time. The lead time for any change in agriculture should be considered to be at least one full growing season.

Consider how the Spring 2020 toilet paper crisis occurred, it was a substitution issue. When workplaces closed and so many stayed home, the demand for office/commerical toilet paper plunged and the demand for home toilet paper (a different product) soared. There was no way to simply shift production in realtime given how the plants were set iup. Nobody thought to put the larger rolls of office TP on grocery store shelves, so home toilet paper supplies were quickly exhausted. Runs on toilet paper followed, and soon there was none to be found anywhere.

In October 2023, I was in DC for the first three weeks of this war, having originally gone there for unrelated reasons.

Quite a few of the antiwar protests I was at were almost half Jewish, with very little airspace between Jewish-initiated and Palestinian-initiated chants. Some were Jewish-organized from start to finish, notably a civil disobedience effort to block road access to the White House. It took about a week for the shock to wear off and people to get moving, then it was action almost every day.

Capper of all of this was an very elderly Holocaust survivor at one of the bigger protests, invoking "never again" against Israel's genocidal intentions which had already been declared.

Try downloading it (supported in desktop browsers) and playing locally. I just played it over Librewolf on Linux so it works at least some of the time. Could be server bandwidth. If it is, expect the problem I sometimes see where you can download but cannot stream

A codec issue would mean it would always be the same videos that won't play rather than random.

FBI agents driven off after failed attempt to question someone at home

On the 28th of April, video emerged of a failed attempt by the FBI to question someone at home in an unstated location.

The home defender here handles the FBI well: refuses to answer questions, demands their own IDs and full names, and ultimately drives off the agents.

Not as aggro as the times I've been in similar incidents but more than enough to get the job done. We win, J Edgar Boozer and the Federal Bureau of Intoxication lose.
