I think if Korra had been a great show, dealing with Aang&#39;s legacy woulda been fine. I think Aang is portrayed as having been a net positive to the world, but I like him being kinda bad at being a parent. And I really liked the idea of a post-war technological boom setting that would&#39;ve felt less impactful had it been centuries after the war. It&#39;s interesting to me to see a world that&#39;s influenced directly by the characters we knew before, for better or for worse.<br/><br/>I think the issues with Korra are the things the show added (hurr durr dark spirits Skyward Sword origin story giant robot pew pew) retroactively tainting Last Airbender. You have this really cool world grounded in asian cultural influence being swapped out for a 1920s western technological boom with an asian veneer. If anything, the downgrade in the world between Airbender and Korra is more insulting to me than anything. I mean, they literally made the spirit world into Alice in Wonderland. I think even if Korra had never mentioned Aang, the world would have been just as disappointing and the stories that Korra told would be just as (at best) mid. <br/><br/>I like how Seven Havens so far has been a complete reset on the world. It doesn&#39;t really feel like any other post-apocalyptic story cuz it has that asian influence back again, and it&#39;s uniquely built for bending again. Seeing a more advanced civilization in ruins, especially when we saw it previously, is kinda fun. And the mystery of what happened with those characters is kinda fun to me too. I think if they had set it in the far future with a different prior avatar, the mystery would be less interesting. Seeing the world we had just seen previously now in ruins is also more impactful to me. We know Korra, and we know that the Korra of the last show wouldn&#39;t willingly destroy the world.
