So I took my mom to the aquarium yesterday and she was cracking up at one of the habitats. I went to take a look and:

Swords, fists, spaceships, guns: it's all good. I wanna see some ass whoopin.

If you live in a place that's trying to ban anonymous access to Wikipedia etc, you might find Kiwix handy. You can download Wikipedia (and other useful sites) to your computer and browse them privately using free software.
You don't need to set up a server or anything. It's pretty user friendly.

Here are a few snaps from our Olympic National Park hike last week, including Mr. Marmot and the fogged-in peak of hurricane hill.
It was an easy public transit trip from #Seattle
Bainbridge Ferry ($10) + Strait Shot Bus to Port Angeles ($20) + Hurricane Ridge Shuttle ($1)

"If you see a piece of writing with lots of em dashes, it's probably AI."
Me: Hey! Those were MY em dashes. Fucker stole my punctuation!
"Semicolons are becoming rare. Books contain half as many as they used to."
Me: Listen up; I'm gonna save the semicolon like we should be saving the whales.

Next: Crabs! I'm not sure what the little red one was. Possibly a pygmy rock crab? That big blue thing is a bit of my shoe, so you can see it was teeny tiny.
The Purple Shore Crab was super cute, unfortunately I didn't get a well-focused picture. If you look close, you can see a tube worm to the left, the little round thing.

🧵 Creatures I saw at the waterfront today! Including a strange one I couldn't identify. PS: Feel free to chime in if I get a name wrong; I'm still learning this stuff.
First up: Ochre Stars. The little orange guy was about 2 inches long. The other one, close to a foot across.

Hey, I enjoyed your post. It's nice to learn a bit about the models and probabilities.

When a marine animal swims past and a class full of schoolkids *lose their damn minds*, shouting and fist-pumping like they just won the superbowl... it's great.
When they explode into dozens of questions, all babbling at once, all wanting to know more... even better.
This is why I'm here. ☺️

It's good I'm not a programmer because tech lingo is often hilarious and I'd be that class clown weirdo who looks at really good code, then leans over and whispers "hell yeah, I'd fork her repo every night and twice on Sundays" and that's when HR would send me a meeting invite labeled DISCUSSION.

So there's a hate preacher harassing people nearby with a megaphone. Someone made a Reddit post asking for help, and before long a guy dressed like Jesus showed up holding a sign that reads "I don't know him."
Someone else arrived and started blowing a loud whistle every time he tries to spout his garbage. This asshat is being drummed off the streets by what is essentially a Monty Python theater troupe. 😂

Between cars spying on us, TVs spying on us, and tech companies injecting AI into everything... I'm well on my way to living a Jessica Fletcher existence with a dumb phone, paper notebook, typewriter, and bicycle.
I shall call it Fletcherism. You don't even have to solve crimes. That part is optional.

Tonight is #Monsterdon! Here's one more fun octopus fact for you:
Octopuses are typically solitary creatures, but we're learning that's not always true. In 2018, the EV Nautilus discovered a massive gathering of octopus, up to 20,000 individuals! They spent three years studying and filming them, learning that the Pearl Octopus uses geothermal vents to brood their young.
The footage they captured is incredible! 👇

In honor of this week's #Monsterdon film, Tentacles, I'll be sharing a fun octopus fact every day. 🐙
Octopuses are super smart! Scientists have found that they can solve complex puzzles, plan for the future, and escape enclosures. They apply what they've learned to future challenges. One captive octopus, Otto, used his siphon to squirt water at an overhead lamp he found annoying, repeatedly shorting it out. 🧠
