Chipmakers won't sell HW at these prices and volumes in a few years time, not because AI went away, but because someone found ways to run AI without gigantic data centers. But AI is definitively here to stay, because it's a genuinely useful tool. Not every use of that tool is great, you can generate slop, amplify misinformation and make killer drones with it, but you can also do cancer research, learn languages and what not.
