It's a funny word, because only one letter is silent!

In French (Norman French is where the word originated), "qu" is pronounced as [k], "eu" is pronounced [ø] like the German "ö", and the trailing "e" is silent. So the entire word is /kø/.

Over the years, the English pronunciation moved away from the Germanic [ø] sound and the pronunciation shifted the second phoneme towards the sound of a letter "u", so it became /kjuː/.

My personal pet peeve is people who indiscriminately copy&paste AI slop and then just say "it's just hallucinations" when others poke holes in the nonsense.

An LLM is a machine for generating plausible sentences, not correct ones. And its hallucinations become regular errors when you forward them on. Just like "it's just a silly typo" become "tax fraud" when pasted into a government form.

Cory, have you considered using the “quiet public” visibility for the follow-ups instead of posting all of the 30+ replies as spoilers? This way, only the first one would appear on our timelines but all would be quotable and we wouldn’t have to click “reveal” on the replies to read the thread.
