“Ruby is my favorite programming language. It’s a great language and nothing really comes close to it in terms of expressiveness. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s mine.

”I love Ruby and Rails, and I even think Rails makes some great technical decisions that have still held up. But every time I read a word DHH says these days, my stomach turns.

“What are you supposed to do when your favorite programming language has a fascism problem?”

https://codeandcake.dev/posts/2026-09-03-what-do-you-do

I don’t know about you, but I’m definitely thrilled any time there are some good vibes showing up in the #Ruby scene. And that’s why I’m excited I get to tell you about the Ruby Users Forum.

No, this isn’t a sponsored post or anything like that, I swear!

I’m simply here because Javier Cervantes & co. have launched something quite inspiring, and I’m glad I get to join in. –Jared White (ResistanceNet ✊) (npub15z3…0xrp)

https://buttondown.com/fullstackruby/archive/u1f5e8-ufe0f-a-fun-community-hangout-for-rubyists/

I once used a tool called rvm to manage Ruby versions & gemsets (cool, but complicated), then migrated to the simpler rbenv. But what if you could use something even more modern? Enter rv.

Inspired by uv in the Python ecosystem and written in #Rust, rv aims to become your singular solution for total management of the Ruby environment. I’m excited to see where this leads the #Ruby ecosystem.

https://www.fullstackruby.dev/ruby-infrastructure/2025/12/08/rv-making-swift-progress/

Most Rubyists are familiar with rubygems.org. The `source` at top of every Gemfile is so Bundler can download and install gems from the rubygems server.

Interesting fact: `source` could be pointed at, well, anything. In fact, you can have multiple sources, and you can even write blocks to install groups of #Ruby gems from different sources including git repos. (TIL 👀)

Today, we have a NEW community-minded gem server: gem.coop! 🎉

All the deets on how to use it and more:
https://www.fullstackruby.dev/ruby-infrastructure/2025/10/06/theres-a-new-gem-server-in-town/
