Some bloke - I now think of him as The Heron Whisperer - had brought along a box of snacks, and every now and then he’d fling a bit to a group of herons who had gathered near him. I don’t know what it was but they were desperate for it. The grass by this guy soon had a full dozen grey herons, all running, jumping up and down, squawking loudly, like skinny dinosaurs partying on a giant trampoline.
