Sure, there are edge cases where the hardcore equipment and techniques shine. I also appreciate the work of the folks who move the bleeding edge forward. Again, some cases where that's all that will work.

Hi hi hello, educator of archivists here. I have this discussion when I teach digital curation and collections, because archives-style consent processes break down at social-media scale.

One thing I do try to impress upon students is NO MEANS NO unless there's an overriding public stake (e.g. for a politician).

One thing that inclines me toward this hypothesis is the phenomenon of professionals (usually in law or healthcare) finding that their clients/patients prefer LLM advice to theirs.

The underlying reasoning there could be "the doc/lawyer hasn't Read All The Things, so..." Also fueled by the Dr. Google phenomenon; perhaps even a turbocharged version of it.

Newbie-friendly most likely means:

* good workflow documentation

* no software installation needed (or at LEAST make it minimal and cross-platform)

* automation-friendly, but by-hand work (e.g. dataset metadata) also available

* a clear destination for completed work
