Step 5: the still hot jelly ladelled into sterilised jars (washed in hot water and bicarbonate of soda, then put in the oven for 10 minutes at 100 degrees C). The jelly is a bit darker than usual because I added a handful of spare brambles at the initial softening stage. 8 1/2 jars. Step 3: placing crab apple pulp into a jelly bag allowing the fluid to drip through into a large bowl. I’ll leave this for a few hours, then empty the bag into the compost and fill it again with the rest of the pulp for more juice. The trick is to let gravity do the ‘juicing’. If you try to hurry by compressing the pulp or squeezing the bag it makes the final jelly cloudy. #Allotment #Allotments #preserving #apples #fruit
