Now say I'm using Mise, and I've already run `mise dot track ~/.config/fish/functions`. I add a new file. Mise’s file watcher sees the change, adds it to Mise's local git repo, commits it, and pushes it to the configured remote. Then its daemon on host B will do its periodic git pull and install the new file on its filesystem.

I’d been use Chezmoi to manage config files for quite a while. A couple years ago I started use mise as a task runner, then adopted it for tool management. And now I’ve started using it for file management. It’s so good. I still think Chezmoi’s great, but mise watches for changes and automatically git commits them, which is the part I always forgot to do myself until the files had drifted beyond repair. https://mise.jdx.dev/dotfiles.html

It took me a while to internalize that it’s also OK to say “no” to a surprising number of things. I’m convinced some customers push purely to see what they can get away with.

Customer: We require 2 business days notice before our data is migrated to another cloud region within the same country.

Me: No.

Customer: OK

Be judicious, of course, but lots of things are asked for that it turns out no one actually expects to get.

Some askers are insistent that they need to know precisely where their data is hosted. Commit to the larger geo region (eg “in the US (or EU)” as appropriate), but refuse to lock yourself into a single data center. That defeats the whole purpose of cloud computing.
