Then she turns around, extends her ovipositor (at the end of her abdomen), and lays eggs down the hole. The larvae have a safe place to grow, with plenty of food!<br/><br/>#bugstodon #insects #weevils #Coleoptera #Curculionoidea #Brentidae #Apioninae<br/><br/> <img src="https://fliprock.files.fedi.monster/media_attachments/files/116/927/520/974/565/624/original/9882c2f722851995.jpg"> <br/> <img src="https://fliprock.files.fedi.monster/media_attachments/files/116/927/521/015/949/857/original/ace89b77cb7c872f.jpg"> <br/> <img src="https://fliprock.files.fedi.monster/media_attachments/files/116/927/521/007/005/858/original/a8305ea5446be1aa.jpg"> 2026-07-16T03:34:25Z https://nostr.now/nevent1qqsyssctl55004gre0u0flc5dvrf8jperdhx08mxl8vcj4t6hrycx8szyr9aya0r4gmamdy8lesh0lvltwd35hf2295hrjn5jumsls5tf6pz2049c42 In reply to <a href='/nevent1qqsqqdfrf566sel7hesmlvrc8el8z98pjgjh4mmprtzvwenq6kt4rxqpz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerfw36x7tnsw43q0kvr78'>nevent1q…vr78</a><br/>_________________________<br/><br/><span itemprop="mentions" itemscope itemtype="https://schema.org/Person"><a itemprop="url" href="/nprofile1qy2hwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnyd968gmewwp6kyqpqx0mjxgtwdnygxx0nq3fzjuma6gskgm29w7llre0sj6w586yy4egq3u7ehw" class="bg-lavender dark:prose:text-neutral-50 dark:text-neutral-50 dark:bg-garnet px-1"><span>nprofile1qy2hwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnyd968gmewwp6kyqpqx0mjxgtwdnygxx0nq3fzjuma6gskgm29w7llre0sj6w586yy4egq3u7ehw</span> (<span class="italic">nprofile…7ehw</span>)</a></span> didn&#39;t strike me as one of the phoretic types. Either herbivore or predatory, I think. Was it actually clinging on the beetle? 2026-05-29T17:10:46Z https://nostr.now/nevent1qqsxjffqym6x3gal5u6tn09dzatxpyhae36dzwjfh4c8a3rtfcaecmczyr9aya0r4gmamdy8lesh0lvltwd35hf2295hrjn5jumsls5tf6pz287ku3h In reply to <a href='/nevent1qqsthztpchqe49795safm48ctnttyxp7c7uye7uhrnem39w5909lp3cpz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerfw36x7tnsw43qtxpw7j'>nevent1q…pw7j</a><br/>_________________________<br/><br/><span itemprop="mentions" itemscope itemtype="https://schema.org/Person"><a itemprop="url" href="/nprofile1qy2hwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnyd968gmewwp6kyqpqx0mjxgtwdnygxx0nq3fzjuma6gskgm29w7llre0sj6w586yy4egq3u7ehw" class="bg-lavender dark:prose:text-neutral-50 dark:text-neutral-50 dark:bg-garnet px-1"><span>nprofile1qy2hwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnyd968gmewwp6kyqpqx0mjxgtwdnygxx0nq3fzjuma6gskgm29w7llre0sj6w586yy4egq3u7ehw</span> (<span class="italic">nprofile…7ehw</span>)</a></span> ooh, how intriguing!
