Joining [the global dockworkers strike](https://www.leftvoice.org/october-30-port-strike-against-war-economy/ ) in Napoli today 🌋

**More houses,**
**less servers!**

Our fight is intersectional, from the river to the sea, from the cloud to the land: **power to the people** ❤️‍🔥

Preparing for [next week’s data centres strike](https://stopdirtydatacentres.eu ) in Sloterdijk, Amsterdam.

Day 2 of [*Hallucinate — Unbox — Restart*](https://www.gameoftech.eu/2026/10/20/hallucinate-unbox-restart-winter-school-programme-2026/ ): crafting our interpretation of a data centre.

My group made a “**decomposed data centre**”, with scattered pieces of information and hardware.

I dedicated a couple of minutes to write a little poem/riddle about it:

> Docker taught us to compose,
> the Silicon Valley to disrupt.
> Refusing those who impose,
> cables of oppression to be cut.

> .
> A data centre’s best form:
> decomposed, eviscerated, exploded.
> From block to swarm, storm.
> Mighty chaos subverting the coded.

> .
> No relations in databases,
> no order in disorders.
> To cooperative laces,
> to trespassing evil borders.

vecna (npub1wzg…wy8c)’s group’s data centre is called “Distraction/Destruction”: the cloud is the d*i*straction, the data centre is the d*e*struction.

[Sanremo → Roma Termini](https://traewelling.de/status/9450704 )I said bye to West Liguria, where I will be coming back for Christmas, and I started by journey towards Napoli.

I took Intercity 505 early in the morning. It was a chaotic ride until Genova Brignole, because there were many classes of screaming kids going to *Festival della Scienza*, then it was quite pleasant!

The train was very late, I managed to get the coincidence probably only because the following one was a bit late, too.

Aaaanyway, this and the following posts will try to catch up a bit. // In ogni caso, questo post e i seguenti cercheranno di recuperare un po’.

Una settimana fenomenale in rasegna! Questo è stato un gran Tenco.

Super fun and thrilling to be working as assistant stage manager behind the scenes of the most famous theatre in Italy!

[Rotterdam Centraal → Bruxelles Midi](https://traewelling.de/status/9353572 )I wanted to avoid Eurostar (more on it [in the booking log](https://tommi.space/interrail/2026/ )). Therefore, I am splitting the trip between Rotterdam and Paris in two legs.

I am on SNCB’s EuroCity 9228.

It is crazy how people are encouraged to use Eurostar and spend a crazy amount of money for its awful service, just because other options do not appear unless you intentionally *look for* them. No sign of ECC 9228 on the NS app nor in the DB app. I was about to panic, but I saw it on the station’s board.

(I could have also taken NS’ ECD actually)

🚆 Tenco-Tecno Interrail 🔊I have just started the Interrail that will bring me from Rotterdam to Paris, Sanremo for [*Premio Tenco*](https://www.clubtenco.it/2026-il-programma/ ), Napoli for [*Hallucinate – Unbox – Restart*](https://www.gameoftech.eu/eventi/winterschool2026/ ), and finally back to Rotterdam.

I couldn’t find a funny name for this Interrail until now: “Tenco” is obvious, “Tecno” is because the Napoli Winter School is about tech. It’s silly but this is why I like it ihihih eheheh

This thread will share things as they happen. [The full trip log is **here**](https://tommi.space/interrail/2026/ ).

Videoconference community serversThe open Jitsi Meet instances I was using for community videocalls all require a login, now.

Are there any videoconferencing community servers that are still open, or where I could ask to have an account?

The last thing I want to do is self-host a video conferencing software, unless it’s something simple and light.

Also: has anyone been trying other software solutions beyond BigBlueButton and Jitsi Meet? Happy to test reliable alternatives you recommend.

Altreconomia (npub1776…7uw0), 2021).

Welcome to pan.rent 🪷신영 (npub1pta…77ex) 🌻

I am so happy friends and lovely creatures are joining our little corner of the Fediverse after #DWebCamp 🤩

quoting

Back in LA after #DwebCamp in Alte Hölle; migrating now to #Fediverse 👋 please welcome my #introduction

My middle name comes from 新 (new) 泳 (swimming); meaning? my work is to bridge cultures and open new ways of thinking; we've got to move some rocks to let the waters flow & just keep swimming

Trained as a documentary filmmaker, now designing multimodal systems for interdisciplinary studies ( #obsidian and #knowledgegraphs ); & currently catching up with #examprep for my PhD #studywithme #undercommons #autofiction #storytime

SPOTTED: Did you know? Palantir's grounding ideologies actually derived from Frankfurt school pedagogy. How leftist cultural theory could become co-opted into a techno-fascist moral catastrophe signals toward the limits of interpretive method. You'll always find me gravitating toward #reparative approaches to education, arts, urban science, technology, etc. and in dialogue across sectors #letstalk

I had to change itinerary. Instead of going straight to Genova Piazza Principe, [I am first going to Milano Centrale with Frecciarossa 9512](https://traewelling.de/status/8440124 ), then to Genova with InterCity 637.

We are used to insult Trenitalia because of its chaos, but I must say that the service was impeccable this time. Exactly like me, another person missed the conmection, and we were given a special (hamdwritten LoL) ticket telling us we could go to Milan then Genova, even if our route was supposed to go straight to Genova from Firenze.

Finally, a Trenitalia steward literally escorted us to the train to Milan, and coordinated with the train manager to find a seat for us.

All of this happened **in 8 minutes**.

I didn’t make it 🤬

I missed the Frecciargento to Genova even if it was 24 minutes late, because the Nightjet’s delay rose to 97 minutes.

[I quickly took a Regionale to Santa Maria Novella](https://traewelling.de/status/8439837 ), where there are more options of trains leaving. Now waiting for the infodesk to find an alternative travel solution for me.

🚄 Berlin to SanremoThis thread documents my journey home from #DWebCamp, exclusively via railway, expected to last 25 hours.

More specifically: [yesterday I travelled back to Berlin from Alte Hölle, Wiesenburg (Mark) station](https://pan.rent/@tommi/116919136722509330 ); today from Warschauer Straße to Berlin Hauptbanhof, then to München Hauptbanhof, then overnight to Firenze Campo di Marte, then tomorrow to Genova Piazza Principe, and finally to Taggia Arma.

Most importantly, [here is the playlist of this journey](https://listenbrainz.org/playlist/d48c2c3c-6f6f-438b-93d8-535c0473a57e/ ).

I had a lovely lunch with part of the Free Software Foundation Europe (npub16xn…g7f8) staff at the *Software Freedom Flat* today.

Many memories from the place, and plenty of interesting conversationssss!

While you sit on the toilet, you can admire the [FSFE’s vision for 2048](https://fsfe.org/news/2025/news-20250103-01.html ).

My DWeb Camp highlight was ending up in a basement rave with Christine Lemmer-Webber (npub1urx…v0z4) (we managed to drag Giacomo Leidi (npub1d7p…yq8v) too, even he was sleepy) and Kaia using a custom build of Mixxx on my laptop to play.

Plus, Christine is now in possession of a video of me questionably sober improvising a song about the Fediverse and other things by randomly looping C and G with adz (npub17p7…npt6)’s guitar.
