The Yaesu area around Tokyo station is named after Jan Joosten van Lodensteyn, a Dutch (born in Delft, represent) navigator who stranded his ship in the 1600s in Japan, became an advisor to the Shogunate, was rebranded Yayōsu, given a house in the inner walls of Edo castle, which is now named after him. Super cool story, Wikipedia article is even better. Yaesu underground mall has his statue and covers his story.

It’s complete! Fun build. Not too repetitive. Not as good as the Saturn 5. But that one is hard to beat.

I used custom elements extensively in 2014 when support was not as widespread. I think it's a beautiful, elegant solution and I'm still a little bit bitter that React became as big as it is. Now everything "has" to be a SPA because developers want to use React, whereas most users would actually be better served with good 'ol HTML with some custom elements where needed.

Last week someone non-technical I work with pushed their vibe coded "app" to GitHub. Filled with hardcoded credentials. Incredible. He was so proud. When we found out, spent almost an entire day rotating out credentials. What a fucking nightmare.
