If you missed the first session, you have tons of time to make it up and you can just start with the second session next week! https://sf-fire.org/nert

unfortunately there should be "screen time concerns"

I have spent time in public schools this year. Mostly in TK-2nd grades.

Many teachers are no longer reading books with children - they put a video of somebody else reading the book on the tv and go and do other things - including scroll their phones.

"Quiet time" for 4-6 year olds = watching a video. I used to read "chapter books" at the start of "quiet time" One year our Ks listened to us read an edited version of the Hobbit

Music teacher? In a room full of instruments and music & movement materials. It's videos. They don't experience music: they watch somebody else experience it

School Psych - (lessons on cooperation, and regulating emotions, getting along with others etc...) If there was a related book to their objective - it's read by somebody on YT

STEAM teacher? again a video of someone else reading the book, instead of being there to answer questions or help explain new concepts teachers are off doing something else.

the Red Cross in their latest R 25 update for first aid is teaching that you can put honey on burns and our medical director about had a stroke because they felt there wasn’t a clear distinction being made between medicinal honey and other honey that great grandma’s had in the back of the cabinet for 150 years

I’m just not in a place where I can look those up right now

Yikes, we have an event on the parkway on Saturday it ends by noon though so I’m hoping that the temperatures will not be warm enough for snakes to even be interested in being out

Anybody have access to like a one page data sheet on snake bite treatment ?

I don’t know how many times I have to tell old people that you don’t suck the venom out of the wound.… Seriously 🤷

when I used to go to Hetch Hetchy on a regular basis it was always amazing to see people on the Wapama Falls Trail in flip flips, tube top, no water, no nothing...

Then again I've seen that on the Mist Trail as well. Snow on the ground, parts of the trail iced over and you're wearing what??

And don't even get me started on people who go to the edge - over whatever safety barriers are in place.... to get a selfie.

Every time it rains, we have to tell a new subset of students not to try to catch the runoff from the sunshades in their mouths

“ Why?“ they ask.

Because the birds poop on the sun shades, and then the rain washes it off, so guess what’s in that water?
