I have started doing this through our local Repair Cafe. My first session was in September last year and I was amazed at (and swamped by) the demand. So many old Windows 7 - 10 machines out there ripe for the upgrading. We have also started a local support group, so the new Linux converts are not left in the cold.

25 years ago I was a printer technician. One of my favourite printers was the LaserJet III. I have seen one that had printed over 1.3 million pages and after servicing, probably could have gone on to print the same again. They come from an era when things were designed to be maintained, rather than thrown away at the first issue.

Hi to all the newcomers who have posted an #introduction recently. I started replying to some of you, but soon got overwhelmed.
I'm not new, having moved to Mastodon when another app called Pebble failed to take off.
I'm an older guy living at the top of the South Island (Te Wai Pounamu), New Zealand (Aotearoa).
