Is it that windy, or is it they are stretched too thin?

Also, who would service the Waterman?

I do realize these aren’t calligraphy pens- it’s just that I used calligraphy pens for writing practice. Don’t remember why I had problems writing with these- maybe ink just wouldn’t flow? The fountain pen on the left was his. I think it’s in decent shape. The 2 mechanical pencils on the right are the ones that I now remember being oldest - also his. The 2 pens on the middle and on the bottom I think were my mom’s. I didn’t remember one of those was a ball-point pen! (No idea what brand/ insert it is.) I never was very successful at using a fountain pen even though as a kid I used to practice calligraphy of sorts (for fun!)

You’ve given me some things to look at. I’ve eyed the Kwaeco several times, and really like the looks eyejayinstruments.com and Wingback- neither of which have I heard of (Christmas list!) I have the blue Staedtler Mars- wish I knew where I put it! Not a go-to for writing for me, I only grab it for drawing. I decided to try a shaker since my old hands aren’t as nibble as they used to be for the regrip to advance the lead, so I’ll need to get “plain” one back in my hands to see if I want to go back to a non shaker. Thanks for sharing. Love to see what’s out there!

(In my old age) I’m finding that I want a thicker lead now. My current favorite is the Zebra Tect 2 Way Frisha, 0.7mm. Loving the shaker, but wouldn’t mind trying an automatic loading. Also prefer metal over plastic body or rubber grip. Recommendations?
