The preparation of mass atrocities is inherent to the othering already, in the dehumanization.

Until the end of the conference of Évian, the Nazis would have just loved it if "somebody, somehow" would have "transferred" all Jewish life from Europe to "somewhere far away". They even sent a correspondent of the Völkischer Beobachter to report on the "progress" of the conference, who wrote mockingly about "nobody else wants the Jews, either".

The goal of making human beings just "vanish" was always there. From the Nazi point of view, the Holocaust was merely the second best "solution". That they wanted a "solution" was out of the question, and that it should look like a mere "vanishing" too: Jews were sent to remote places in the East, into "labor camps", where they would "work".

This needs to be kept in mind today, whenever a government wants to see people "vanish".

E.g., euphemisms about "encouraging emigration" are not proof of mass murder not being a foregone conclusion. They are the last warning sign before the mass atrocity. It has already been decided that "they have to vanish". It is merely the offer "either you take them, or we'll make them vanish".

Soweit ich sehen kann, ist das Entgleiten der Deutungshoheit derzeit der wesentliche Faktor für die Heftigkeit der Kampagne.

Auf der rechten Seite des Spektrums wurde wohl verstanden, dass manche Begriffe sich immer weniger als Waffe missbrauchen lassen – selbst das wenige an Berichterstattung, das in deutsche Medien vordringt, haben dafür ausgereicht.

Die "Definition" der IHRA würde ich persönlich nicht verteidigen wollen: wer 11 Antisemitismus-Beispiele anführt und ganze 7 davon auf Israel fokussiert, verfolgt m.E. im Wesentlichen eine ganz andere Agenda, als Antisemitismus zu bekämpfen. I've been thinking about an emerging issue here on the #Fediverse, and I would like to suggest we solve it collaboratively.##

IssueCivilians in #Gaza are trying to provide food, medical treatment, and basic necessities for their families. They can't see upfront who would be willing to support them here on the #Fediverse. They can't stay silent either, just watching their kids and vulnerable family members suffer.

So they add long lists of recipients to their posts, and maybe also sent direct messages to a long list of people.

Some recipients feel helpless, because they're already donating. Some people get upset because they do not want to receive a stream of direct messages.##

SuggestionLet's use a ""#hashtag" (to be determined):

1) **When you post a call for donations,** write it without a long list of recipients, so everybody reading feels addressed by it.

Include the "#hashtag", to encourage boosts.

2) **When you're willing to support civilians in Gaza who are in need**, subscribe to the ""#hashtag".

No need to boost all of the posts you will see. If we are many, each of us boosting a single post a day will spread the message. If you don't think a post is a genuine call for help, just don't boost it. If you see malicious abuse of the hashtag, to harm its efficiency, report the abusers.

3) **Whoever doesn't want to see the "#hashtag" can filter it.**##

There's "communities" for nearly everything on the #Fediverse. It is a strange misconception that a server software like Mastodon was something like a centralized #server #instance that was required to "allow" for anything, or could "prohibit" it, for everybody.

On the Fediverse, your server instance can allow or prohibit anything, just like any other instance. When your topic is hated on most other instances, there might be good reasons for that, though.

Still you can even run your very own instance fully dedicated to ShittyTopic™. It's just that nobody is obliged to listen to you, or to say friendly things about it, or to never block your instance.
