So kjede - sjede is the same minimal pair that we were talking about earlier, kjede meaning chain and sjede vulva, Scandinavian writes compound words together, here the second part of the word is kollisjon (collision) so the one is chain collision (where one car crasches, the next car crashes into the one that crashed etc) but for some young ones the sound of kj is hard to say, so some times they use the sj sound instead and it comes out as sjedekollisjon instead "vulva collision"

Well, I'm not quite sure if there is any other reason for english being such a huge language is more because of the imperialism and then later american soft power brought out in a big way as an antipole to communist influence around the cold war period.

There are so many languages that would fit better as a world language, something like indonesian, I do use english a lot, but I have to say that I don't really enjoy the americanised english that I encounter the most, it just feels so flat and boring to me.

Yeah, "accidental" puns happen quite often, it's something I learned to embrace as I was learning to speak german. Just going with the flow and laughing at my errors were the best thing for me learning :)

I've been speaking and using english for about 30 years now, I still keep on doing small errors, the goal is not to be perfect, but to be understood :)

To be honest, there are more divergence between norwegian and norwegian than between english dialects as well, so basically there are swedish dialects that are easier for me to understand than some norwegian ones ;)

I mean, we do understand if someone is using sh, but it's a different sound at least in norwegian you can have quite funny misunderstandings if you mix them up, there is for example a huge difference between kjede /çɛ:dɘ/ (chain) and sjede /ʃɛ:dɘ/ (vulva) ;)

It's not really sh, its the one that is /ç/ in ipa, not ...

/ç/ in ipa, not really used much in english but most similar to the starting sound of "huge" both in swedish and norwegian ki and kj is often used to write the sound.

Ja, det var det jeg mente, uttrykte meg litt klønete, det jeg mente var at istedet for at han spurte om dere visste ordet har dårlige konntoasjoner virket kommentaren mer som "hvorfor er dere så rasistiske". Fra andre interaktsjoner vi har hatt som gikk i samme retningen virker det mer som om det er en gotcha, enn god tro for å opplyse.

Ja, han har en liten hang til å provosere der, gjorde det samme i en tråd der hvor vi diskuterte å få linux til å se litt bedre ut, tenkte ikke så mye over det da, men det er litt snålt å kjøre fullt på med å beskylde folk for å være rasister for å bruke utbredte begreper man ikke har koblet til at har en nedlatende konnotasjon.
