Proust is the famous one. The title even changes. My French is only so-so, but I can tell you that it is not the same text in either version. It's like taking up snowboarding and discovering new muscles along the sides of your legs, even if you only read French at my basic level.

While the translations might get the general point across, they lose the rhythm.

I wonder about some of those. Reading Proust in English is like reading Bleak House in Spanish. I think my number is not as high as yours, but it's respectable. Given current events, I think I will finish Don Quixote.

that is wild to me, I only hear the faintest hint of a "p" in the sense that there is a quick transition (not like "amphibious"), but still mostly "f". But I say it like you do--I would say it such that the word requires a "puh" sound from the lips, but I think the word only requires an "f" like the second "f" in "fifth".

The problem is that these things, in the worst case, geolocate people, and also might fingerprint them.

So, while the attribution might be well-meaning, the problems can be worse.

Speaking as someone that gave a private presentation showing the exact location of the Miami home of a Latina music star, found only by looking for large image files.

So, the one that I worked on only did color profiles and dropped everything else.
