I'd guess that a higher proportion of anarchists vote than do liberals. Anarchists tend to be very engaged and use every tool they can.

The people who don't vote are mostly the disengaged or indifferent, and aren't going to hear complaints.

Most radical leftists make the point that voting is ineffective. That's not the same as refusing to vote on principle. It doesn't entail not voting. It's a criticism of the lack of doing anything else.

Like, you've probably seen people say of the right, "Every accusation is a confession." Which is how I'd characterize Musk, Trump, etc., making up racist fantasies, when they're actually rapists themselves.

Anyway, I'd suggest looking a bit into the Cornell 7 situation -- a fraternity gang-raped a young woman and got off with effectively no punishment, and a lot of journalists are blaming the young woman -- and then apologizing and writing a better statement.

Now that you mention it, I feel like in a lot of mass media speculative fiction, there's a decline of the "sociological imagination". Like, it's not just uncritically deploying tropes or including familiar things that don't fit the context; it feels like a lack of interest in how societies might vary, like they don't really take seriously the idea that societies do vary.

Neither my partner nor I can drive. It feels like that can't have been a coincidence about our becoming a couple. Partly I imagine it has something to do with our neurodivergences being similar, but a lot of it is just that we didn't have conflicts starting from the first date because we had the same expectations about where we could go and how.

When I took Driver's Ed in high school (mandatory at the time) I was the only student in the class who hadn't already been driving (illegally) for at least a year. The instructors were surprised at having a student who didn't already know how to drive. I never did get my license; it eventually occurred to me that I graduated high school on a technicality, because I was required to take the driving test but not required to pass it.

I can get by okay living in the Bay Area, and it was actually a bit easier in the Portland area. But most of North America is inaccessible for me. Once in a while I'm reminded of this and it hurts.

I've been frustrated with how the organized left, what remains of it, seems to resist and resent the crepuscular spread of questioning and quiet rejection of patriarchal ideas, and tries to re-inscribe left-coded hierarchies.

I remember a lot of arguments against relying on spontaneity, but the "spontaneous" forms of resistance have been the most successful. I don't think they're as random and rootless as the criticisms of spontaneity made out.
