Social interactions tend to be easier for me, that’s probably the only difference. But as for the rest, I really recognised the same types of misunderstandings I’ve had with people on- and offline. The examples you make — the ‘pessimism’ and the genuine not understanding mistaken for judgement — have repeatedly happened to me as well. You can very well imagine my bafflement.

The old Renault 4 (top left) and old Renault 5 (bottom left) may have had quirky designs and specific idiosyncrasies, but at least they were instantly recognisable & distinguishable. Look, I’m sure you’ll think I’m being stubborn on this, but I don’t think Apple was on such shaky ground that Cook needed to do what he did. Sure, being outright hostile towards the Trump administration would have probably been unwise, but Cook and Apple could have maintained a more ‘neutral’ stance.

It’s only anecdotal data, but based on the feedback I’ve received via email and private polls with my 200-people closed sample, Apple’s image is quite damaged at the moment.

In names like Pinocchio, the “-occhio” part doesn’t have anything to do with “eye”, it’s a suffix that was originally alterative, having diminutive value, then with time that diminutive derivation lost value and remained in certain words, all ending with “-occhio”. A similar case is “rana” (frog) and “ranocchio”, which originally meant “little frog/froglet”, but then just became a variant of “rana”.
