Gas holders Number 4 and Number 5 of the former Temple Gas Works as seen this morning from Dawsholm Park in Glasgow. Built in 1893 and 1900, respectively, by the Barrowfield Ironworks Ltd for the Corporation of Glasgow Gas Department, they stored town gas created by heating coal in the gas works. This was then supplied to the street lights, homes and businesses across the city.
