2026-10-28T23:15:49Z

Closing Q&A from the Muslim Bitcoin Summit in London, with Simon Dixon, Mu'aawiyah Tucker, Subhan Tariq Esq., Abdullah ibn Oda (Muslim Bitcoiner) & Michael Howe ( The Bitcoin Guide).

What's next for Palestine? Can Wall Street capture Bitcoin? How do you pay zakat in it? Where do you even start?

Simon explains what actually keeps Bitcoin decentralised, who owns it, who mines it, who writes the code and who runs the nodes, and why, despite the pressure from Wall Street, he still trusts it. Shaykh Mu'aawiyah reminds us that Bitcoin is ultimately the people who use it, and that as Muslims we answer for our effort, not the outcome. The panel gets practical on starting small, moving to self-custody and paying zakat in Bitcoin, then turns to how a country like Syria can rebuild without surrendering its sovereignty to creditors.

The Q&A covers:
• What's next for Palestine, and why a sovereign wealth fund matters
• Can Bitcoin be captured? Owners, miners, developers and nodes
• Bitcoin is its people, and outcomes are with Allah
• Getting started: small steps, self-custody and the Lightning Network
• Paying zakat in Bitcoin, and how zakat naturally caps extreme wealth
• Rebuilding Syria without giving up financial sovereignty
• How finance and Bitcoin led two speakers to Islam

2026-10-27T20:30:54Z

"You don't only pay tax when you cash your Bitcoin back into the bank." That's one of the biggest misconceptions this panel clears up, as Shukry Haleemdeen, a chartered management accountant and crypto tax specialist, walks through what UK Bitcoin holders actually need to know.

UK Focus — Tax & Regulatory Landscape, Strategies in Savings, Donations & Charity Organisations

Hosted by Hasnain Dhalla, with Shukry Haleemdeen, founder of My Crypto Tax, who has worked in crypto tax since 2014.

Shukry explains how your tax depends on what you do with your Bitcoin, from capital gains for most holders to income tax for mining and staking and corporation tax for companies, and which moves count as a taxable event. He covers what HMRC can already see, including the new Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework, and the rule changes he expects in 2027.

The panel then turns to the community: how businesses can accept Bitcoin, and why mosques and charities, which don't pay capital gains tax, have a real opportunity to accept Bitcoin donations, including zakat, as long as they take security and record-keeping seriously.

Changes in the Nostr, GrapheneOS and Linux simulators:

- The same next-step hints, smarter “Go” button and mission bar, with hints written for every step.
- The toast fix, so links inside toasts will always work.
- The GrapheneOS phone and the Linux laptop stay pinned on screen while you scroll the steps. For GrapheneOS this only happens on screens tall enough to fit the whole phone.
- A small fix in Linux: the laptop drawing made phone screens scroll sideways by a few pixels.

Latest updates to the Sats Simulator Bitcoin learning game: Some ...

2026-10-26T15:54:51Z

Latest updates to the Sats Simulator Bitcoin learning game:

Some minor bugs have been fixed and features have been added in Sats Simulator. The shared improvements have been been added to all four simulators.

Sats Simulator fixes:

1. “Watch it” link: it now opens the mempool. The swipe-to-dismiss on toasts was swallowing clicks on links inside them.

2. “What do I do next?”: every mission step now has a short hint saying where and how to do it.
- “Go” (shown as “Continue” once a mission is started) takes you to the screen for your next step, and opens the right tab.
- A slim bar at the top of that screen shows the mission, the step and the hint, with a “Take me there” button when you’re elsewhere and an × to hide it.
- For Fees and the mempool, it now opens the phone wallet and says to send with the Slow fee.

3. Flip coins to make a seed:
- “Use my words” now stays visible after the seed is finished, so you don’t need Start over.
- New Heads (1) and Tails (0) buttons let people enter real coin flips. A note says to only do this for a real seed on an offline device.

4. “Your coins” step completes as soon as you open the tab (bug): opening the tab no longer completes the step. The step is now “Combine small coins when fees are low” and completes when you actually combine.
- If you have fewer than two coins, a “Receive three small tips” button gives you some to combine.

5. Combining coins says “when fees are low”, but they aren’t: there’s a new Quiet period button (on the coins card, in the mempool and in facilitator settings). Miners clear the backlog and fees stay at 1–2 sat/vB for a few blocks, so a cheap combine confirms in the next block. When fees are busy, the coins card says so and points to it.

6. Hardware wallet device scrolls out of view (layout): the device stays pinned on screen while you scroll Sats Desktop on laptop and desktop screens. On phones it stays stacked above as before.

7. Multisig spend summary only shows the start and end of the address: the spend shows the full address in the message and in the payment, in 4-character chunks, with a reminder to check every chunk on each device.

8. Running out of Lightning sats (feature): you can now add sats to your side of an open channel without closing it (a “splice-in”).
- From the phone wallet: +25,000, +50,000 or +100,000 in the Lightning section.
- From the hardware wallet: a new card 5 in Sats Desktop, signed on the device.
- The sats join your side after one confirmation, and the “Not enough outbound liquidity” message now has a “Top up my channel” button.

I genuinely think this is one of the best keynotes you'll ever hear.

Simon Dixon at the Muslim Bitcoin Summit in London, on how Bitcoin combats the military, financial & technical industrial complex.

You could literally feel the impact this had on everyone in the room. Riba, the rise and fall of empires, war, the coming digital control grid, and why owning your own key is the way out.

"The ability to be at the right side of a money printer determines who rules the world."

34 years ago today, 21 October 1992, Commodore launched the Amiga 1200. 32-bit 68EC020, AGA graphics, 2 MB RAM, £399.

I remember selling my Amiga 500, and then somehow miraculously convincing my older brother (must've caught him on a good day) to give me the extra cash to upgrade to the new A1200.
It was the golden age of home computing!

How we hosted the Muslim Bitcoin Summit in London for under £15k.

The unofficial playbook: how we ran MBS26 London for under £15k. We ran a two-day international conference in London on a budget most organisers would laugh at. Four months, ten volunteers, no organisation behind us, and not a penny of corporate sponsorship. Here's exactly how we did it.

'Bitcoin Is Halal - Adam and Layla Discover Digital Gold', is a bold, accessible introduction to Bitcoin for Muslim families, students, and adults seeking clarity without complexity.

Through the story of siblings Ali and Layla, the book transforms difficult ideas-money, decentralisation, scarcity, self-custody; into simple, memorable lessons. It also delivers one of the clearest faith-aligned explanations of Bitcoin available today, showing how its core design resonates with Islamic principles of fairness, transparency, and true ownership.

Engaging, practical, and rooted in values, Bitcoin Is Halal is the perfect starting point for anyone exploring digital money through a lens of faith and integrity.

Available in English, Bahasa Indonesia and Arabic via Amazon, Bukunesia, Lulu (paperback) and Google and Apple books (ebook format).

New podcast from Bitcoin Majlis: "Why Simon Dixon Left the Banking System for Islam"

Ahead of the Muslim Bitcoin Summit (nprofile…dat8) London (Oct 10–11), thebitcoinguide (nprofile…wxez) and freedommachine (nprofile…03hz) sat down with SimonDixon (nprofile…dz72) — 26 years in banking and finance, an early Bitcoin investor since the first Prague conference, and founder of Bnk to the Future.

The conversation traces his path from investment banking, through an attempt to build an Islamic-principled bank blocked by Bank of England capital requirements, to Bitcoin, and ultimately to Islam.

A few themes worth your time:
→ The "open hand" vs the "invisible hand" — free will exercised under accountability, contrasted with pure self-interest
→ Why debt-based money structurally requires ever-more borrowers — and where that leads
→ Self-custody as more than a technical practice — a discipline of sovereignty and accountability
It's a candid, wide-ranging discussion — some of it will spark debate, all of it is worth engaging with critically.

Featured Speaker: Alp Uçkan alp (nprofile…6l3e)

Web developer, freedom tech architect with a strong interest in finance and ancient history.

Even before studying business informatics, Alp had been into computers since he was 9 years old and took on student jobs in the 90s as a network sysop and database developer. His first contact with the internet was in 1994, back then just email and file transfers, and shortly after that the world wide web came along. In 1997 he developed his first website and deployed it on his own domain. Since then he's built hundreds of websites, sometimes in part, but mostly from scratch, for various companies as well as a hobby. Among them are larger social network and e-commerce platforms.

His entry into Bitcoin came relatively late in 2021, his first purchase in 2022, and 3 months later he moved to self custody. At the end of 2022 he tried out the Nostr protocol, and starting in September 2025 he developed his fully functional Nostr client "NoorNote", which is still in active development to this day. It stands out from other Nostr clients with its extensive feature set and some tweaks for Muslim users.

In 1997 he started publishing articles on his domains, in 2001 he ran a technical blog covering UX, open source, web development, and network security. Today he writes exclusively on Nostr. Topics include decentralization, open source, UX, sometimes Bitcoin, digital hijra, and detoxing from big tech and legacy social media platforms.

At MBS he will mainly talk about the digital hijra to Nostr and give an introduction to Nostr's key concepts and their application.

The Muslim Bitcoin Summit brings together scholars, charities, and Islamic‑finance leaders to explore how sound, riba‑free money can strengthen Muslim communities worldwide. It’s a chance for organisations to understand Bitcoin’s role in transparent zakat distribution, censorship‑resistant aid, ethical wealth preservation, and Shariah‑aligned financial innovation. This is where Islamic values meet financial sovereignty — and where the future of Muslim economic empowerment is being shaped.

Bitcoin is Money, not a graffiti wall. Just like public phone ...

2026-07-26T01:43:43Z

Bitcoin is Money, not a graffiti wall.
Just like public phone booths were built for communication — not for stickers, graffiti, and escort cards — Bitcoin’s block space is built for monetary settlement, not arbitrary data spam.
When abuse appears, you don’t “tolerate it”; you remove it to preserve the public utility.

1. Public infrastructure

A phone booth is a public utility designed for a specific purpose:
• make calls
• pay a small fee
• keep the service accessible to everyone

Bitcoin is also a public monetary utility:
• settle transactions
• maintain decentralization
• keep node operation affordable

Both systems rely on shared resources.

2. Abuse emerges

Phone booths got abused:
• graffiti
• stickers
• calling cards
• vandalism

Bitcoin gets abused too:
• arbitrary data stuffing
• corporate marketing inscriptions
• “NFT‑style” spam
• block‑space flooding

In both cases, the abuse does not redefine the purpose of the system.

3. Maintenance is not censorship
When city workers remove graffiti or calling cards, they are not “censoring art” — they are maintaining the integrity of the public utility.

Likewise, BIP‑110 is not “censorship”:
It’s maintenance — preventing misuse that harms decentralisation, node affordability, and the monetary function.

4. The fee doesn’t justify the abuse

People used to say:
“I put a coin in the phone booth, so I can do whatever I want.”

But paying the fee never granted permission to vandalise the booth.

Similarly:
“I paid the fee, so I can shove megabytes of junk into Bitcoin.”

No — the fee is for monetary settlement, not for turning Bitcoin into a billboard or data‑dump.

5. Removing abuse protects accessibility
If phone booths become unusable, the public loses access.

If Bitcoin blocks become clogged with non‑monetary junk, node runners lose accessibility, fees skyrocket, and decentralisation weakens.

BIP‑110 is the equivalent of:
• cleaning the booth
• removing the stickers
• restoring the intended function

It’s pro‑user, pro‑node, and pro‑Bitcoin‑as‑money.

Abuse of a public system does not redefine its purpose.

Maintenance is not censorship — it’s stewardship.

This is exactly the ethical stance of the “noderunners” in the current #BIP110 debate.

2026-07-18T21:38:47Z

Bitcoin is Money — not a billboard.

BIP110 restores Bitcoin’s purpose as a peer‑to‑peer monetary network by curbing data spam, tightening consensus safety, and keeping node operation affordable for everyone. It’s a temporary, reversible safeguard that protects decentralization, efficiency, and neutrality — ensuring Bitcoin remains sound, sovereign money rather than a playground for arbitrary data.

Bitcoin Majlis theme song for Muslim Bitcoin Summit

“Rise of the Honest Weight” v1
(Theme for Bitcoin Majlis & Muslim Bitcoin Summit)

Verse 1
In a world of dust and riba’s chains,
Where the weights are bent and the truth is strained,
We return to the path the Qur’an made clear—
Honest measure, no deceit, no fear.
Knowledge calling, hearts awake,
A trust restored that none can take.
From the Ummah’s voice a light is cast—
Sound money rising, free at last.
Bitcoin Majlis … guardians of the deen,
Teaching what the scholars mean—
“Riba consumes,” the Prophet warned,
So we stand where justice is reborn.

Chorus
Ya Rabb, keep our scales upright,
Guide our hands to what is right.
Sovereignty for every home,
Freedom where Your truth is known.
Anti‑riba, we proclaim—
Bitcoin carries honest flame.

Verse 2
From London’s halls to Dallas plains,
The Summit gathers hearts and brains—
Scholars, builders, families too,
Seeking what is pure and true.
Education is our shield,
Sovereignty our battlefield.
“Your keys, your trust”—a sacred stand,
No tyrant’s grip on what we’ve planned.
Communities rise, node by node,
Walking the Digital Hijrah road.
A future built on truth alone,
Decentralised, and mercy‑grown.

Chorus
Ya Rabb, keep our scales upright,
Guide our hands to what is right.
Sovereignty for every home,
Freedom where Your truth is known.
Anti‑riba, we proclaim—
Bitcoin carries honest flame.

Bridge
No more dust of riba’s stain,
No more fiat’s hidden chain.
Gold once served, but time has shown—
A harder truth now stands alone.
With amanah in our hearts,
Every Muslim plays a part.
Justice is our guiding star,
Sound money is our Zakat jar.

Final Chorus (Lifted)
Rise, Ummah, rise—your trust restored,
Weights made honest, by Your Lord.
Freedom written in every block,
A future none can twist or lock.
Anti‑riba, we proclaim—
Bitcoin carries honest flame.

Bitcoin Majlis theme song for Muslim Bitcoin Summit

“Rise of the Honest Weight” v2
(Theme for Bitcoin Majlis & Muslim Bitcoin Summit)

Verse 1
In a world of dust and riba’s chains,
Where the weights are bent and the truth is strained,
We return to the path the Qur’an made clear—
Honest measure, no deceit, no fear.
Knowledge calling, hearts awake,
A trust restored that none can take.
From the Ummah’s voice a light is cast—
Sound money rising, free at last.
Bitcoin Majlis … guardians of the deen,
Teaching what the scholars mean—
“Riba consumes,” the Prophet warned,
So we stand where justice is reborn.

Chorus
Ya Rabb, keep our scales upright,
Guide our hands to what is right.
Sovereignty for every home,
Freedom where Your truth is known.
Anti‑riba, we proclaim—
Bitcoin carries honest flame.

Verse 2
From London’s halls to Dallas plains,
The Summit gathers hearts and brains—
Scholars, builders, families too,
Seeking what is pure and true.
Education is our shield,
Sovereignty our battlefield.
“Your keys, your trust”—a sacred stand,
No tyrant’s grip on what we’ve planned.
Communities rise, node by node,
Walking the Digital Hijrah road.
A future built on truth alone,
Decentralised, and mercy‑grown.

Chorus
Ya Rabb, keep our scales upright,
Guide our hands to what is right.
Sovereignty for every home,
Freedom where Your truth is known.
Anti‑riba, we proclaim—
Bitcoin carries honest flame.

Bridge
No more dust of riba’s stain,
No more fiat’s hidden chain.
Gold once served, but time has shown—
A harder truth now stands alone.
With amanah in our hearts,
Every Muslim plays a part.
Justice is our guiding star,
Sound money is our Zakat jar.

Final Chorus (Lifted)
Rise, Ummah, rise—your trust restored,
Weights made honest, by Your Lord.
Freedom written in every block,
A future none can twist or lock.
Anti‑riba, we proclaim—
Bitcoin carries honest flame.

Outro (Soft Chant)
Majlis stands… the Summit calls…
Truth endures when falsehood falls.
Ya Rabb, unite our hearts again—
Upon the path of honest men.

Why We Exist

Muslim Bitcoin Summit (nprofile…dat8) is a grass‑roots, non‑profit initiative created by Muslims who care deeply about the future of our community.

We are not a company.
We are not selling anything.
We are not funded by investors.

This summit is self‑funded — every penny goes directly into the venue, logistics, and educational materials.

Our mission is simple:
to help Muslims understand riba, debt, fiat injustice, Bitcoin, and digital sovereignty.

We built this because our community needs it — and because nobody else is doing it.

Muslim Bitcoin Summit Featured Sponsor: Frostsnap

Frostsnap is the world’s easiest multisignature hardware wallet — powered by FROST threshold signatures and Bitcoin’s Taproot upgrade.
It turns high‑assurance multisig into something anyone can use: simple setup, flexible device policies, hidden multisig privacy, and recovery that never requires on‑chain transactions.

Why Frostsnap matters:
- True distributed key generation — your Bitcoin’s private key never exists on any single device.
- 2‑of‑3 threshold security — any two devices can sign; losing one device never means losing your Bitcoin.
- Hidden multisig — Frostsnap transactions look like single‑sig on‑chain, boosting privacy.
- Replace or revoke devices without moving funds — add new signers, retire compromised ones, no on‑chain changes.
- Resistant to physical coercion — no single device can reveal your life savings.
- Open‑source, MIT‑licensed, deterministic builds — verifiable security, no vendor lock‑in.

In short: Frostsnap makes serious Bitcoin security accessible to families, businesses, and long‑term holders — without the complexity of legacy multisig.

Featured Speaker — Harris Irfan

Muslim Bitcoin Summit 2026 — London, Oct 10–11
Muslim Bitcoin Summit (nprofile…dat8)

Harris Irfan is one of the most respected voices in Islamic finance — a veteran investment banker with three decades of experience across London and the Middle East, specialising in Islamic finance, Shari’a‑compliant fintech, and real‑economy capital markets . He is the CEO of Cordoba Capital Markets, a non‑bank finance company pioneering profit‑sharing notes (PPNs) as a real‑economy, non‑debt alternative to conventional financing .

He is also the author of the critically acclaimed bestseller Heaven’s Bankers: Inside the Hidden World of Islamic Finance, praised by the Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, and Huffington Post for its insider perspective on the industry .

Keynote Topic: "The Problem with Fiat Money — And Why Bitcoin Matters"

In this keynote, Harris Irfan brings his decades of front‑line experience to a fundamental question:
What happens when the global monetary system is built on interest‑bearing debt?

He will unpack:
• How fiat money is created through debt, and why this architecture structurally embeds riba‑like incentives.
• Why Islamic finance has struggled to remain true to its real‑economy, risk‑sharing roots — a critique he has voiced throughout his career and writing .
• How Bitcoin’s fixed supply, decentralisation, and non‑debt issuance offer a radically different monetary foundation aligned with Islamic principles of justice, transparency, and real‑economy linkage.
• The emerging role of non‑debt, risk‑sharing instruments (like PPNs) as part of a broader shift toward sound, ethical money.

This keynote is a bridge between Islamic economic ethics, modern monetary realities, and the Bitcoin alternative — delivered by someone who has shaped the industry from the inside.
