Cyberdecks seem to be having a resurgence, and the designs are changing for the better. How our current age mirrors the history of medieval guilds, the Luddites, and the Arts and Crafts movement. And #solarpunk is getting brought up more often!

https://blog.hydroponictrash.solar/cyberdecks-going-analoge-and-convivial-technology/

While in some cases that is true - you really should be like a seed.
But in most cases, it's a matter of seeing who is already doing the work that you want to do, connecting with them (with your own unique talents/skills/desires) while also connecting groups together.

What we want is already around us. Tool libraries, seed libraries, free stores - post-scarcity economies are already here. But they might be small and unknown. Tap into them and expand them!

And if not, be the seed! Start small and connect other groups who might share similar needs, or have some overlap!

#solarpunk

With the election of Donald Trump, and the further cementing of far-right and fascist rhetoric in the systems of empire, we have two choices. To despair and be paralyzed with fear. Or use our resistance to create persistence.
https://anarchosolarpunk.substack.com/p/fighting-for-liberation

Ideas within #solarpunk can carry over into concrete resistance and action. We can combine convivial and low-tech solutions to use and reuse the waste of capitalism to provide everything we can for people. We can resist the fascist takeover by building systems based on #librarysocialism, ensuring free and equitable access to the things people need to live outside of the monetary system.

Within the ashes of a fascist take over, our resistance to it can be the seeds for lasting change. Not only do we need to carry out antifascist action, but those actions should act as a catalyst for building collective liberation.
We will see a massive protest movement arise. We need to be sure that these protests don't remain just shouting and marching demos, but form them into mass movements of action. Every step the fascists and the empire takes needs to be met with concrete action.
The battle for the future is two fold. By undermining the powers of capitalism by taking the proverbial 'carrot on a stick' away from capitalist systems - we also make it easier to resist fascist street gangs and ideology. Our resistance will become our persistence.

Hygge, Buen Vivir, Solarpunk & Degrowth.

During the winter, my partner and I tend to hunker down and really get into the Hygge spirit. "Hygge is a word in Danish and Norwegian that describes a mood of coziness and "comfortable conviviality" with feelings of wellness and contentment." For a video primer on Hygge (pronounced hoo-gah): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pl74ybpyNLk

Hygge captures a core feeling, that the term Buen Vivir or "good living" also captures. They both touch on being both cozy and comfortable. Taking solace in the small and little things. Focusing not on individual pleasures but sharing space with other people, and enjoying the company of each other. Both to me - capture the feeling that a solarpunk future world, or a world that the Degrowth movement aims for, more so in the day to day.

There is something special about slowing down, about getting together with friends or even strangers around a fire, of sharing a home made meal or dessert. In unplugging from the capitalist system and sharing with someone without the need for exchange. In making others happy. Taking time for rest and for play, good food, good drinks, good times.

Hygge should be all of the time, life should encourage leisure, play, relaxation. As opposed to the systems and social relations we have now that focus on work, consumption, and destruction.

We can take time to slow down, share a homecooked meal with friends, family - either biological, adopted, or queer family, strangers, comrades, anyone. Get cozy and comfortable, share from our gardens, listen to our stories, share an embrace, or a homebrewed wine. Things can be different, and they should be.
#hygge #solarpunk #degrowth, #buenvivir
