The #QEMU contribution policy is being updated to make it clear we don't currently accept #llm generated code: https://patchew.org/QEMU/20250603142524.4043193-1-armbru@redhat.com/

Where's the legal line between LLMs trained on vast copyrighted codebases and human developers who've read copyrighted code? The #law hasn't caught up to clarify this distinction yet. There are certainly arguments the process of generation might not be novel or human enough that the result can be copyrighted anyway.

If you are interested in the multiple moving parts needed to get #mte support for #qemu's #gdbstub you might find my colleges blog post interesting: https://www.linaro.org/blog/adding-support-for-mte-debugging-to-qemu/ - fortunately #linaro's #upstream first development policy is well suited to tackling these sort of integrations.

For the record I do support self-id, the current process for GRC is far too intrusive and over medicallised and it should be reformed. My main concern is the binary (sic) nature of the debate has pushed everything to extremes with most people in the middle too scared to say anything lest they say the "wrong" thing. That is not the context I want legislation to be formed in - that is likely to exacerbate existing harms.

Discrimination is still wrong. Everyone has a right to access healthcare. I agree the arguments about bathrooms are problematic because it becomes a "passing" test which doesn't help anything. The difficulty I find is people can acknowledge that biology is complex and varied but social constructs like the law are obvious and immune to nuance.

These edge cases are well documented and many women have argued about them. I have no issues with how anyone wants to be identified and will happily use preferred pronouns. But waving away concerns as exaggerated and denouncing politicians who may opine on potential solutions is how we got to the supreme court being asked to rule on a point of law.

The legal ruling may give some temporary clarity on legislation that wasn't clear in its framing but it certainly shouldn't be the end point. Future legislation needs to be clearer in its definitions and exemptions. There is always going to be a need to balance the rights of different groups with each other.

But we don't know that with the silicon feature alone the TSO mode meets the x86 memory model strength which is what I thought people wanted it for. Reading the thread back there looked like support for a global kernel config (so KVM doesn't need to mess with IMPDEF regs) but the likely result is well written aarch64 code running slower than it otherwise would.

There has been a recent influx of #twitter refugees and I think of the three big alternatives #bluesky seems like the most user friendly. Ultimately it doesn't make too much difference to me if I can follow them from elsewhere. I can see why enabling #federation isn't by default but it should certainly be encouraged.

What made everyone move to Bluesky or #Threads instead of #Mastodon? - #Lemmy.zip

https://lemmy.zip/post/22030071
