If I really liked #Plex "because it has more client apps" I could probably just swap out every streaming client I have for less than the new Plex Pass price. 2026-05-20T02:05:46Z https://nostr.now/nevent1qqs2l7ns96q3v82sdn8ak2cvhpz95td3eu8z4jnnpjut6gwvc26uwggzyquwg7dutl9apqxk82e6h4mvumqn905seakju8l5k27w78t3rw2mccgqm5s Does anyone want a Cape referral? Brings it down to a more reasonable $50/month (or less for families) compared to their past $99 price 🤣 2026-05-09T18:18:03Z https://nostr.now/nevent1qqs85gxwfw78l7dnwpltw9v6ffgg7fk5nc9jf2dt6x5dmeguclvpcsgzyquwg7dutl9apqxk82e6h4mvumqn905seakju8l5k27w78t3rw2mcjfgz49 It's very frustrating that you can not add an image to a quote post. Mastodon pls fix this 🙏 2026-04-22T03:00:54Z https://nostr.now/nevent1qqszpv7k5pa40wwasu9jeupsj6xzrm60ejtunstr3rvtah4u92zetpgzyquwg7dutl9apqxk82e6h4mvumqn905seakju8l5k27w78t3rw2mcvuasja

So, I helped Britt out with moving her instance to a new server provider this week.

While the people at toot.io were relatively helpful in our email chain (once she was finally able to get a hold of them in the first place anyways), the setup at toot.io was a bit strange and not optimized for an instance of her size. The actual server itself was well *over*powered for her to be seeing the slowdowns she was, and Mastodon & especially Postgres just weren’t using those resources to a full extent.

Honestly the biggest red flag 🚩🚩🚩 to me isn’t what toot.io is doing now necessarily, but that it was apparently sold(?) to completely new management without notice to customers. In a niche service industry like this, that seems like a big problem to me, to not even explain who’s taking over and why you should trust them.

The previous ownership is probably more at fault for this relatively speaking, but it’s probably a good opportunity for toot.io customers to reevaluate their hosting options… Even if you ultimately end up sticking with toot.io, you simply might not be fully aware of what’s going on over at your own hosting company anymore, and that’s always worth double-checking 👀

#MastoAdmin #MastodonAdmin #MstdnGames #InstanceMigration #Tootio

nostr:nevent1qy2hwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnyd968gmewwp6kyqpqncf9gy3jmms8jrehhvgasnjwg9t20y3g9lu4lq6j0wu60yxcdpgqghyh4r 2026-02-06T15:51:53Z https://nostr.now/nevent1qqsf394frasmv4l843hhjmyy4x37njejl9urxtj0lt03k6kmth64hkszyquwg7dutl9apqxk82e6h4mvumqn905seakju8l5k27w78t3rw2mc3zxlhw It’s once again a good time for sci-fi fans to sign up for Apple TV+ because season 3 of #Foundation is starting out so strong 😁 2025-07-31T16:15:30Z https://nostr.now/nevent1qqsrrpgcy2tv7lalne9eql5cuery7cpws3xavkuf9aeh498sve0dt0gzyquwg7dutl9apqxk82e6h4mvumqn905seakju8l5k27w78t3rw2mckfrehc Really the only thing I can think of that currently exists and comes close to #ChatControl is North Korea's OS, which scans every file on the computer for certain keywords... and the fact that this comparison is being made at all is very problematic. 2024-06-19T09:16:17Z
