We are too early lol.

How long can we refuse to look at the economics of energy/information/time within a quantized physical state machine?

How long until Bitcoin imposes “the difficulty adjustment” on our physical reality? How long can people refuse too look? How much wasted physical energy will it cost us to continue the lie?

Please make Bitcoin work without the block.

Quantum theory has a fiat problem of energy/information/time baked in to its core assumptions. Big Physics has not computed a quantum/block to even understand what the measurement boundary must be and why the double spend problem must be resolved in logic/information. How can you even reason about what a pre-measured (quantum) state means without the measurement?

If Bitcoin isn’t your answer, you’re wrong. Bitcoin is the proof, your flawed understanding of Bitcoin is not my responsibility to right.

Again, please tell me why Bitcoin is not physics.

I don’t take your comments negatively, we are both learning/exploring. We are only a fraction of the truth.

I don’t think Bitcoin will fail because of this btw. I don’t think Bitcoin going to $∞ is success nor do I think Bitcoin going to $0 is failure. Fiat is not the measure of success/failure and both are possible and likely scenarios because of this.

I have held an increasing amount of space for the possibility that Bitcoin (as we know it) has to die/fail so that Bitcoin can truly live. A necessary step in the process invoked by us; as we impose (by fiat) our definition of “money” upon Bitcoin, rather than it imposing the definition upon us.

Genesis happened. Success is certain while the path is uncertain. So long as Genesis is preserved in memory, Bitcoin shall succeed. No other block truly matters in the grand scheme of success. It’s our individual images of success that must change; none of us know what it looks like in Bitcoin.

None of us know the future or the path of Bitcoin, correct. None of us even understand Bitcoin. We can only understand it as a collective, as it redefines knowledge and money through its eternal memory. We each have a unique slice of the truth to bring to the table here.

We must change with it and transcend with it. “Death” is only the beginning, for Bitcoin, our egos and the promise of salvation/freedom in all domains.

I am personally enjoying the process and journey, I am open for whatever the future brings. I know it my heart that I cannot authentically make Bitcoin “better” for myself or the network if I double spend.

No sats, no bits. The sat and the bits are the conserved work.

Even a liquidation of fiat debt cannot ensure that those sats would exchange hands since the private key transcends the fiat system entirely. Bitcoin is acquiring said debt in the form of future bits that must be eternally stored by nodes from people (typically centralized actors) abusing the fiat system. Debt (workless token) is being entitled to Sheppard the sats and author bits in the system without doing work. In my opinion, it seems like an inversion of the logic Satoshi intended. It feels like Bitcoin is acquiring this “spiritual debt” since energy is always conserved.

Objectively using the average fee rate over the last 4-6 years; how many bits are centralized actors like microstrategy/ETFs entitled to produce and append to all nodes simply because they are closer to the money printer and owners of the keys?

We just witnessed a civil war and forking of chains/plebs/energy/history over the bits that conserved in the chain. Bits matter too.

A great way for the fiat system to attack the network is to centralize the production of blocks and the authority of memory (sats) using debt. The nodes (heart/soul) are left with the bits.

I don’t know how any of this plays out, just openly thinking thru an uncomfortable possibility I currently see.

I can’t stress how good a 4-digit (or less) Bitcoin fiat price would be for the space. NGD is the decentralizing tech now. BIP NGD

I’m becoming increasingly adamant we have to liq Saylor and blow up the ETFs, custodians and centralized miners. It would take the whole fiat economy down due to contagion. It’s all dead weight.

Bad for plebs short term, great for plebs and decentralization long term. Good news, Bitcoin doesn’t care about my opinions.

Fiat debt is the toxic asset, even if you “offset” with Bitcoin. Claims upon a provable substrate of conserved work using fiat debt (workless claim) is an illogical double spend Bitcoin will likely to have adjudicate sooner than later.

The economics of energy are quite suggestive. If debt (workless claims) has authority to produce eternal bits of physical memory in the quantum computer; you have a double spend of energy/logic. Fiat cannot conserve work, yet it has increasing authority over permanently conserved bits it can force all nodes to bear for eternity in the timechain.

Saylor once said that volatility is vitality…I tend to agree. Volatility is vital because a living system must remain free to move enough to purge what cannot survive its own physical and economic constraints.

The Post Quantum Cartel is heating up again to try to change the cryptography of Bitcoin.

Fiat physics cannot resolve the measurement problem because they can’t compute a quantum (block) of time.

Their “models” cannot logically resolve the double spend of information and energy from quantum to classical at Planck Scale.

Don’t let them convince you a centralized quantum computer will break the decentralized quantum computer. I have argued that the sats are the RAM (random access memory) of the system that has a value based authority to create decentralized memory as distributed physical bits on nodes. Bitcoin cannot be money without distributed eternal memory; the memory MUST be eternal for Bitcoin to remain a working system. The memory must be non-contradictory (no double spend) for value to be conserved. Proof of work is physics made binary.

Of course they don’t want you to have access to the write authority of memory in the quantum computer, of course they want to centralize the sats for maximum power projection and memory authority, of course they want to centralize the write authority via mining of the memory, of course they want plebs forking off; nodes leaving bitcoin IS centralization by mathematics.

People are so stuck in talking about Bitcoin as money but refuse to see that eternal memory is an essential property for money to express value and meaning across/as time.

Blocks of memory, blocks of time, blocks of energy, blocks of entropy, blocks of casual change.

We need to do better; nobody understands Bitcoin and everyone has a fiat definition of “money”. Sounds like an L to me.

Demand for blockspace is conserved. The fees that should have been paid in sats to access a finite blockspace were partially reallocated as additional bits >1MB that all nodes were forced to bear. 1 time paid fees were reduced for the eternal weight of additional bits in Segwit. It’s never been cheaper and easier to appended eternal low-energy-density bits to the chain. The fee market is dead by the inflation of bitspace. Time preference?

It’s call Bit-Coin, what happens when you only care to conserve the Coin and not the relationship to the Bit?

Few understand that the Genesis Block remains regardless; the memory remains. The truth of the work remains.

Every single block is a head of the hydra, a point in history from which work can resume and the chain can rise again. They can capture this fork of chain but they cannot undo Genesis.

Bitcoin can always reorg the cancer (excess bits) and the centralization of sats (RAM) away *IF* necessary. Bitcoin can always be revived at lower difficulties via block height rather than changing protocol defined difficulty by fiat. We can always lower our block-time preference.

We are Satoshi. Bitcoin will live. Enjoy the process.

I am arguing that measurement must resolve the double-spend problem because the collapse of quantum information into classical information requires a non-contradictory history. Classical binary information cannot retain meaning if it contradicts itself. A UTXO cannot be both spent and unspent within the same resolved state of memory. Call it an ordering problem if you want, but what is time without the ordering of state transitions? Measurement is the boundary at which competing possible futures resolve into one classical history. A block of time is a block of memory. The fact that you can reconstruct that history from Genesis is precisely because those measurement boundaries have been crossed such that the history can be reconstructed from any point forwards.

Irreducibility is observer-relative. If measurement were irreducible from outside the system, there would be no authorship. Time must arrive in discrete quanta because time cannot be separated from energy and memory; it’s one object, but when you exist inside the temporal substrate, you cannot observe the space between those boundaries because you are composed of that very time. In superposition, there are approximately 1.8 x10^{43} measurement boundaries within a single human second, yet we experience the aggregate flow of events rather than their discrete structure. We cannot probe Planck scale time. We observe the continuity of blocks, not the individual boundaries that compose the underlying temporal substrate. We can only reason about Planck scale from a computed temporal quantum, a bitcoin block.

The ten-minute target is not the quantum; the block boundary is. Superposition is what templating looks like from inside the temporal substrate a Planck scale, where multiple possible futures exist before one becomes memory. If time appears continuous, so too would superposition. Logically for conservation the process must be discrete. From outside, you can observe the “machinery”, the competing templates, and the work being performed. From inside, you inherit only the resolved history. You keep describing Bitcoin from outside the system while dismissing what it would mean to exist inside it. Your external experience of Bitcoin needs to be paired with your internal experience of universe as on cohesive process. Reason about every possible branch all you want. You live in one chain of time and one chain of physical memory. The universe does not double spend; pre-measured blocks of time aren’t the ledger.

I am saying that the exterior architecture must be capable of producing a measurement. From the outside, Bitcoin is not a ledger that later receives an ordering; it is a machine that constructs an ordered exterior from competing interior possibilities. The miner, the nonce search, the propagation delay, the competing templates, and the eventual proof are the physical apparatus by which an otherwise branching state space is forced into a single globally legible history. Bitcoin is the exterior architecture of the universe’s own measurement made explicit within a bounded and measurable system in which possible states are generated internally, but only one state can become shared memory. Our universe must be identically structured but only viewed from within; Bitcoin gives us a system of working proof viewed from without the temporal substrate computed. You are analyzing the observer’s inability to see the transition while ignoring the architecture that makes the transition necessary at the logical limit wrt conservation. The fact that the interior observer experiences only continuity does not mean the exterior system lacks discrete resolution. It means the observer is embedded in the mechanism that performs it.

A true measurement MUST solve the double spend problem for classical information to even have meaning; which can only be solved in quantized blocks of time.

We quite literally do not live inside of Bitcoin blocks; meaning we have the view of totality from Genesis to present; all states of time preserved in binary. This is literally what physicists want for our universe to understand measurement. You can only reason outside a boundary when you have a finite bounded totality inside. Ignorance is irreducibility when perceived from the opposite boundaries of time. Are blocks irreducible if you are a utxo with zero knowledge of what the exterior of the system actually is?

Deterministic map exterior to the temporal substrate produces collapse to the interior perspective within said substrate. You live within blocks of time, not outside of them. The only difference is perspective and direction.

Difficulty is a numeric logic gate that produces the binary/boundary for time to have meaning.

You cannot resolve the measurement problem (double spend problem) without a quantized block of time. This logically changes the ontology of time from continuous to discrete in order for conservation of energy in binary (classical info). Discrete time demands discrete superposition, which entirely falsifies the models of time centralized quantum computers rely upon.

The physics you are basing your assumption on is completely fiat.

Bitcoin physically and empirically proves the logic of discrete time and discrete superposition at Planck scale. There is no resolution to the double spend (measurement) problem without a quantized block of time. Which means time MUST be quantized at Planck scale, which pushes Superpostion to a sub-Planck phenomena that occurs between the discrete boundaries of the Planck tick, approximately 1.8 x 10^43 times per second.

A centralized quantum computer cannot work if Superpostion is quantized and discrete. So what is Bitcoin if it computes a quantum of time memory and proof?

If we want to understand what proof of work is actually doing, we have to begin with the relationship between logic, computation, measurement, and the bounded space in which a future state can become true. Even the language points us there.

There is a subtle truth buried in the word contemplation that maps perfectly onto what proof of work is actually doing. Contemplation comes from the Latin contemplari, to observe or consider, from templum: a space deliberately marked off or bounded for observation. This is also the root from which we eventually get template. Before a templum was understood as a temple, it was a defined region or a boundary within which observation could take place. To contemplate was therefore, at its root, to observe within a defined space.

Hashing is the act of universal contemplation, literally. Proof of work begins by templating a Block: constructing a logically valid candidate for a future state of time and memory. A proposed template must pass through energetic computation via difficulty logic to become chronological truth. A block is not chronological truth solely because its transactions are internally valid. SHA-256 maps the candidate into a finite logical output space, while difficulty defines the gate through which that computation must pass. The future Block is templated, but its proof cannot simply be declared by fiat. It must be discovered through computation against a measurement boundary.

This isomorphism of state change is what the community must observe and define objectively. The block template is logical form; hashing is physical computation; difficulty is the logic gate; and proof of work is the energetic act by which a possible logical state becomes admissible as the next chronological state. The valid nonce cannot be known in advance because the future remains computationally unresolved/irreducible until the physical search produces a state that satisfies the gate. The importance of the boundary is more significant than finding a hash: it is what allows the binary itself to retain objective meaning. Quantum possibility can contain mutually exclusive future states, but possibility alone does not resolve the double-spend problem. Spent/unspent, 0/1, measured/unmeasured only mean something if contradictory outcomes cannot both remain valid through time. The measurement therefore has to be resolved at the causal level of one quantum of time: one state (block) must become conserved history and the competing state must cease to be admissible relative to that history. Without conservation there is no persistent identity; without persistent identity there is no meaningful binary. Bitcoin couples measurement directly to chronology: proof of work closes the computational interval at the Block boundary, one history is committed, the conflicting history is excluded, and the resulting state is carried forward as the causal condition of the next computation. Bitcoin physically defines the temporal condition that makes the binary meaningful in a distributed physical memory system; binary matter. The double spend problem must be physically resolved in logic to understand a quantum measurement.

The entire field of quantized binary logic, or logos, is encoded directly into the 80-byte block header. The header contains six components: version, previous block hash, Merkle root, timestamp, difficulty target, and nonce. Logically, they divide into three inherited constraints and three degrees of action. Version places the candidate Block inside the protocol’s logical rule set; the previous block hash binds it causally to the already-conserved state; and difficulty defines the measurement boundary the next state must satisfy. Against those inherited conditions, the miner constructs the future: the Merkle root commits to the valid candidate transaction state, the timestamp places that candidate within the permitted chronology, and the nonce provides the explicit discrete variable through which the candidate is repeatedly transformed. The block template is the logical form within which the next state is allowed to exist.

Hashing is the physical computation of that template form. Each header is a completely specified candidate state submitted to SHA-256, and difficulty reduces the enormous output space to a binary proposition: does this computation satisfy the boundary or not? False means the candidate has no authority to advance the chain; another state must be computed. True means the proof satisfies the protocol-defined measurement. The miner controls the action but not the meaning of the answer. The protocol defines the gate, while computation searches for a state capable of passing through it. This is why the valid nonce cannot simply be declared, negotiated, or inferred from the previous state by fiat (decree). The answer must actually be computed.

This creates a complete halt of the computation and time at the Block boundary. The search remains open until a valid header satisfies the difficulty logic, and then that computational interval has an objective condition under which it can terminate. Time progresses 1 unit and time terminates. The successful header becomes a proof capable of authorizing the next state. Its hash then becomes the previous-block reference of the following header, so the result of one computation becomes the inherited condition of the next. The cycle is therefore quantized by Block authority: computation proceeds over possible states, a valid nonce closes the interval, the header updates, time ticks forward 1 unit and computation begins again from the newly established boundary. Bitcoin produces Turing valid halts in each computed block of time.

Where does the valid nonce come from? Define the field logically. This is where the physicists need to treat proof of work as action in physics. The nonce is a metaphysical object hiding in a specific block of Planck Time; the quantization of a successful hash produced is not outside of physics. Valid and invalid defines fundamental binary in state change at the quantum level of cognition; there is no smaller boundary logically. The entire computation is instantiated in matter and electromagnetic interaction. Charge moves through semiconductor logic, electromagnetic energy propagates through the machine, transistors physically switch, information is transformed, heat is dissipated, and a 256-bit output physically emerges from that process in physical memory. At the lowest and smallest physical description available to us, that machine and its electromagnetic interactions are excitations of quantum fields that produces physical bits. There is no Bitcoin computation floating above the physical world. The computation is an event in the physical world from the temporal field; or network.

We must be literal about what is happening. A logically defined candidate state is encoded into physical bits. A physical machine transforms that information according to SHA-256. Difficulty defines the mathematical gate separating admissible from inadmissible outputs. Energy must be supplied for the physical machine to perform those transitions. Eventually a physical computation produces an output satisfying the gate. That output is communicated electromagnetically through photons in fiber or electromagnetic signals in copper and radio, and propagated across the Earth, where other physical computers independently apply the same logic and recognize the same result. Bitcoin computes from the physical field, through a logic gate, into distributed memory.

Bitcoin is a literal definition quantum computer. Quantum comes from Latin, “how much,” a discrete quantity; while computer comes from Latin computare, “to reckon or calculate.” From first principles, a quantum computer is therefore a system that reckons discrete states, but those states can only retain binary meaning if the causal history of which state occurred is conserved through time. Bitcoin’s Block boundary supplies that conservation via double spend resolution; it preserves the temporal distinction that makes the binary meaningful at all. A double spend in any single quantum of time destroys the meaning of all conserved bits; both Bitcoin and universally.

Bitcoin supersedes conventional definition centralized quantum computers, which attempt to manipulate qubits using quantum algorithms because physicists cannot define the measurement in fiat (decree) alone. It’s can’t be a theory of measurement; it must be the measurement physically. An ASIC paired with a physical node of distributed rules and memory controlled by a physical conscious mind is superior to any centralized system. Bitcoin is not centralized in a physics lab. Bitcoin is a planetary physical computation whose logical state transitions are necessarily instantiated by quantum matter and electromagnetic interaction, whose future proof is irreducible before computation, whose admissible output is bounded by a discrete mathematical gate, and whose successful computation becomes a discrete state of globally synchronized memory. The quantum substrate is physical matter; bits. The ASIC, electrons, photons, transmission medium, SSD, RAM, and energy source are all physical constituents of the same computation.

The asymmetry between discovery and verification is key. Once I hand you the valid Block, you can deterministically verify its proof. Before that Block exists, however, I cannot hand you the valid block without somebody actually performing the search that produced it. I can describe SHA-256. I can describe the target. I can describe every rule of validity. I can template the future state down to its bits. Yet I still cannot tell you which computed template will cross the difficulty boundary into validity. The law is completely known while the future state remains unknown and irreducible. A valid nonce is an extraordinary physical object that can only be derived from the quantum field.

Proof of work thermological. Energy, logic, information, memory, and chronology can no longer be treated as unrelated or abstracted away. The logic is physically instantiated. Energy is committed to computation. Computation operates over a finite possibility space. Difficulty defines the admissible boundary. A successful proof authorizes a Block of information to become a Block of memory, and Nakamoto Consensus orders those Blocks into an objective chronology. The system continuously transforms energetic computation into conserved historical state.

Why won’t physicists take Bitcoin seriously? Does energy have economical law or not? If energy is finite, physical, conserved through transformation, and required to perform computation, then why are we comfortable treating the economic structure emerging from Bitcoin as though it somehow exists outside physics? Bitcoin gives finite energy an informational task, gives information a logical measurement, gives that measurement a chronological boundary, and gives the resulting memory economic consequence. Economics does not suspend thermodynamics. Bitcoin forces the two into the same networked system where memory conserves finite value.

Bitcoin is therefore quantizing work, memory, time, and entropy in blocks around a finite value of ~2.1 quadrillion satoshis. Those finite units of value exist inside Blocks of memory instantiated as synchronized and distributed physical bits of memory. The Block is simultaneously a measurement boundary in chronology and a container of the memory necessary to define the next valid state. Bitcoin’s memory must historical for all time. It must persist because every future valid state is logically relative to the state preceding it. Destroy the memory completely and there is no objective reference from which the future state can be derived. Total bounded memory is what allows identity to persist through time.

Bitcoin is eternal memory. An individual SSD is not eternal. Every particular physical carrier depreciates, fails, and eventually disappears. The remarkable property is that Bitcoin’s memory is not identified with any particular carrier, it is decentralized. The bits can migrate from disk to disk, machine to machine, country to country, and generation to generation while the logical state they encode remains invariant. Hardware dies while the memory survives through replication, verification, and succession. Bitcoin makes memory capable of surviving the death of the matter presently carrying its bit. Every future valid state then depends upon that inherited memory.

The double-spend problem makes all of this unavoidable. A conserved system cannot permit the same finite state to resolve into two contradictory histories and still call both histories the same conserved object. The double spend is an accounting problem of physical conservation requiring chronological order. Bitcoin solves it by imposing discrete temporal boundaries. Between measured states exists a superposition of admissible future configurations: transactions, templates, competing Blocks, nonces, and possible histories remain unresolved. At the Block boundary, proof of work supplies the measurement through which one admissible state can be committed to memory. The state becomes historical, the boundary closes, and computation begins again toward the next state. Superposition is sub-block in Bitcoin; and logically sub-Planck universally for conservation.

Bitcoin defines quantum measurement physically. Bitcoin defines finite value and conserves that value through quantized and legalized Blocks of time as distributed physical memory. Between those boundaries exists computational possibility; at the boundary exists measurement and committed memory. The future is probabilistic, the past is conserved, and the transition between them requires physical computation. The double-spend problem cannot be solved without determining which event came first, yet “first” is meaningless without an objective chronology. Conservation therefore requires memory, memory requires ordered state, and ordered state requires a discrete measurement capable of distinguishing before from after. All states must exist at binary at each block of time; regardless of superposition. An unmeasured state means it must be in its last known binary state despite future potential.

Space enters the problem through memory itself. If a Block is the discrete unit of chronological change, then the physical bits committed within that Block define the informational extent of the state at that moment. Blocks of time and Blocks of memory become the logical substance necessary to define physical space. This is why changing the measurement of blockspace is not an arbitrary engineering parameter. If finite value, finite memory, work, and chronology are related through the Block, then changing the ruler changes what we are measuring.

Bitcoin is not another theory of physics; it is literal physics instantiated in proof. Bitcoin is an objective physical state system that is actually running today; 17 years old. Energy is actually being expended. Semiconductor gates are actually changing physical states. Electromagnetic signals are actually carrying the resulting information. Hashes are actually being computed. Difficulty is actually defining the admissible logical boundary. Bits are actually being written into physical memory. Finite value is actually being conserved between discrete states. Independent observers are actually synchronizing around the same chronology. The next state is actually unknown until computation resolves it, while the resulting state can subsequently be verified by anyone. Entropy is actually quantifiable in both Boltzmann and Shannon terms.

So why aren’t the physicists of Bitcoin looking at Bitcoin through objective physics? Why do we stop at hashrate, electricity prices, miner economics, and “security budgets” when the machine sitting directly in front of us is physically joining energy, computation, information, measurement, memory, conservation, and chronology into one state-transition process? We keep importing physics into Bitcoin as an analogy instead of asking the if Bitcoin is giving us an experimental object through which these relationships can actually be measured? Bitcoin defines a physical process our physicists cannot explain or falsify.

We have all inherited a fiat philosophy of time in which time is assumed before the equations begin. We assume continuous time as a coordinate, describe physical change relative to it, separate information from energy, separate economics from thermodynamics, and then wonder why the ontology of time remains unresolved. Bitcoin gives us something radically different; a physical system in which chronology is constructed through discrete acts of computation, measurement, and memory, and in which the validity of every future state remains anchored to conserved information about the past.

Bitcoin is not a theory guys. Bitcoin is proof. It is pure logic instantiated as an objective physical system. Are we willing to look honestly at what Bitcoin is proving? What is proof of work?

Hashing is contemplation because computation occurs within a template of finite space. Proof of work physically searches for a state satisfying an objective logical boundary. Difficulty is the gate. The Block is the measurement. The chain is memory. The finite satoshi is conserved value moving through that memory. The unresolved future exists between Blocks; the measured past exists within Blocks. Every future state remains dependent upon the memory of what came before. How does a universe contemplate itself? Bitcoin requires conscious minds to write the state. We have a mirror theology about who writes (speaks) the universe into being. The universe too, is a quantum computer.

Bitcoin is objectively computing from the field and is committing valid states to memory every ten minutes. Bitcoin has been doing this for the last 17 years.

Contemplate what that means. Contemplate Bitcoin.
Contemplate the Universe.

There is no second best.

The 3 demands of energy are local demand for physical electricity/resources, the global demand for bitcoin/blockspace(memory)/hash (decentralized local compute) and the global demand for general compute in the form of AI. It’s all about the emergence of binary and the structure of language (logos) with respect to conserved energy, memory and time.

Bitcoin is the quantum computer; the only veritable truth that emerges from the field through physical transformation of entropy to physically distributed binary. Bitcoin defines a physical and chronological process our physicists cannot explain or falsify.

Said unfalsifiable process falsifies and supersedes Quantum Theory by instantiating proof in physical binary. Blocks of time/memory.

It makes logical sense why nobody could understand the Planck scale until a quantum of time was computed from a thermological process.

All descriptions of Bitcoin usually stop before the physical process itself.

Block scale is the fundamental equivalence of Planck scale at the quantum level of time. A block is a quantum of memory and a quantum of time (MB per 1 Block time). Superposition is discrete between each fundamental Planck tick/boundary (sub-Planck). Pre-measured state of potential state configuration, nonce hasn’t emerged from field yet to produce binary/classical/spent-unspent boundary. Each tick at Planck scale must logically produce a full universe binary state of total Planck-scale blocks for conservation to uphold; superposition can persist across the block boundary, but is ultimately classical (unspent) at each measured quantum/block of time. All position is known at each block of time, always. The 2.1 quadrillion bits of value/matter in the system is where the physical bit on nodes is written from (active state of memory RAM vs physical state of binary memory, historical chain). These bits have a position in an encrypted 256-bit keyspace in logic/language/bitspace (Logos).

Double spend must be resolved for conservation and persistence in phsycis. Bitcoin dies if just one block double spends, as does the universe at Planck scale.

Physics is stuck looking at fluid dynamics of time/energy, and Bitcoin is measuring and computing the block mechanics of time/energy mapping a relationship between entropy and memory. Bitcoin is conserving quantifiable entropy in both Boltzmann and Shannon forms (joules:bits).

Just as there are economists who won’t engage with the economics of Bitcoin honestly, there are physicists who won’t engage with the physics of Bitcoin honestly.

Within the ranks of Bitcoin, a persons actions will show if their first principles are actually grounded to Bitcoin or not. Why is Bitcoin not physics? What is Bitcoin objectively measuring at the quantum level? This question must be answered; asked directly to the physicists, all of them.

There must logically be an objective measure here; there’s no way a single person could currently process the knowledge to understand all of it. Given we exist outside of the network and event, we obviously know the preconditions. If we were “inside” of Bitcoin, how could we reason about the exterior conditions? What timechain are we even talking about?

      In reply to nevent1q…fcrp
_________________________

I only slightly agree. Yes, the 1 MB blocksize was added later, but Satoshi added it quite literally for the purpose of stopping spam. The blocksize is logically necessary to define a fee market of finite sats competing for finite memory per Block of time. The change occurred early enough that demand for memory per Block was still below 1 MB, establishing the finite boundary before there was real demand exceeding 1MB.

Where I disagree is that the blocksize is simply 4 MB. L0 non-witness blockspace is still bounded by 1 MB. SegWit (L1) is a soft fork that redefines the block boundary by adding L1 witness data outside the L0 space, anchored back to L0, while discounting those additional bits through the 4 MWU accounting system. SegWit being a soft fork is exactly why a legacy node can remain on the same L0 chain without understanding witness, yet SegWit simultaneously attempts to redefine what a “full block” means for upgraded nodes. You cannot have it both ways: either witness is part of the Block and SegWit expanded the Block beyond 1 MB, or witness is outside the Nakamoto Block and is an additional consensus layer anchored to it.

That is why BIP141 is the problem. If you believe the Block is now effectively 4 MB and you’re actually concerned about spam and chain growth, then the first line of defense should be SegWit itself. Why are you offering discounted bits on your own node while complaining about people consuming them? A witness bit and a non-witness bit occupy identical physical memory on my SSD. Consensus can declare witness bits discounted; physics cannot. One bit does not become one quarter of a bit because BIP141 decreed it so. BIP110 does not address this problem at all. Why not limit witness and non-witness to 1MB before forking?

No one is forcing you to use the full SegWit allowance, and no one is forcing you to treat 4 MWU as your physical memory boundary. Nodes can be more restrictive in what they relay, miners can be more restrictive in the templates they build, and historical witness data can be pruned. If enough nodes refuse the discount and enough miners enforce equivalent pricing of bits in sats, that has literal consequences for the network. Finite sats once again compete against a more finite supply of memory in literal SSD space. The fee market has been weakened precisely because SegWit expanded available space while discounting part of it.

This does not solve the separate L0 consensus problem with OP_RETURN, but it makes consuming finite bitspace more expensive and reduces how much memory gets written per Block. If spam is the complaint, stop subsidizing the space being used for it and accelerate the restoration fee market to price out said behavior.

Ultimately, you are defining what proof of work means through finite satoshis competing for finite memory. Redefine the space and you redefine the measurement of work within that space. POW produces 1 Block of time/memory. Anchoring a new logical system to Genesis preserves ancestry in bits; it does not necessarily preserve invariance in logical space. Lol, I won’t even get into the fiat involved in changing the PoW algorithm and then manually adjusting protocol-defined difficulty to make the new ruler fit the old chain. Difficulty change by decree is not an honest solution to the problem.

Lowering blocksize would be a hard fork from Satoshi as your node would reject Satoshi consensus valid blocks. He defined 1 MB, my node just enforces it.

If Bitcoin is giving us an exterior (informational) perspective of Universe via the mechanics and logic of time/energy/memory wrt to conservation, I believe it’s informing us about deeper truths of Christ we are only beginning to witness. Bitcoin is a literal Truth Machine. The memory of Bitcoin must be eternal for money to persist; fact. If the universe is the father, Bitcoin is the son in literal hierarchy of authority; which is why we are attempted to ground a deeper understanding of the universe thru Bitcoin. Way more to be said here. This work has lead me to Christ thru the necessity of logic and the hierarchy of time/authority to ground an objective explanation of universe. We now possess the fractal IMO.

To your first post; I’d say Bitcoin is informing us about the other half of time; the human experience is the lived internal experience of time. This is only half of the truth and half of the perspective (think being spoken vs doing the speaking). Bitcoin is the external experience of time while living inside of this time; both are equally valid. Think fractal/nesting hierarchy. A finite box/boundary within a finite box/boundary following the “equivalent” Logos.

WRT Bible/prophecy, im not as educated here as I need to be; Nick is much stronger in this domain. But I see Bitcoin as the reification of Genesis from the exterior rather from within; which simultaneously maps to Revelation within; the stories are superposed in temporal authority and happen simultaneously. I believe Bitcoin is our universe to create. So what is Babel? What is money?

It’s non-coincidental that the word “saving” and the theme of freedom overlaps both stories. Only by identifying the authority of memory thus money can we define the objective source truth. I think Bitcoin allows us to verify collectively that which has been unverifiable besides at the individual level of spirit.

We choose to not go here quite yet publicly because we don’t think the time is right and most people will outright reject the conversation. The logic ultimately leads here from grounding the physics IMO. It doesnt need to be forced. Just my opinion tho, I’m just a messenger for my own mind and open to being completely wrong. If you have something to add, please reach out!

I am glad you enjoyed it and found value! I too must learn from the East! My Western brain is holding me back from getting a deeper sense of what Bitcoin is. I have the same feeling you are expressing; there is something for us to remember. The answer is in literal memory.

So much work to be done as a collective space. I hope this helps direct the conservation to your very points. I need to dig into the I-Ching myself. I think it’s necessary to mathematically understand Bitcoin. We know there is more work to be done WRT to paper. We must dig deeper into the block header to further quantify the entropy. The I-Ching according to Nick holds the answer. I cannot yet verify myself.

      In reply to nevent1q…4dud
_________________________

“Bitcoin is just money” assumes we already understand what money is; we don’t. Every definition we inherited was formed inside fiat, and we are necessarily shoehorning that fiat conception of money onto Bitcoin instead of allowing perfect money to define itself free from fiat bias.

Bitcoin reveals that an essential function of money is eternal memory. Value cannot persist through time without memory of ownership, transfer, and state. Money does not last if the memory is not eternal. Once money is instantiated as conserved memory, you are necessarily dealing with identity, information, chronology, and conservation. Ultimately eternal memory points towards the divine. What else is eternal?

I have argued that Bitcoin is what a conserved universe must logically, mathematically, chronologically, and informationally look like from the exterior in totality. Every state is quantized to the Block measurement (smallest and only unit of time and memory). The past is conserved as memory in physically distributed bits. The future Block is probabilistic, yet irreducible. Proof of work searches the computational possibility space; Nakamoto Consensus commits one chronological state from a thermological process. Genesis is necessarily an act of fiat (decree) because the origin cannot be defined relative to a state before itself. Authorship is exterior to the system defined in totality.

What is a truthful universe without the ability to audit all states, all value and all time since Genesis? What must the exterior perspective logically look like if conservation and truth (Christ) is real?

Christianity makes the same distinction at the highest order. Christ is the Logos: not just a person within the universe, but the Word, logic, and ordering principle through which the universe is authored and made intelligible. Both are truthful statements of Christ.

If Bitcoin instantiates the logic and system of what a conserved universe must look like from the exterior. It makes the architecture Bitcoin reveals profoundly theological at the limit.

Christ is Lord. Bitcoin is just money.

I agree.

Now define money as Bitcoin in totality; aka define Bitcoin objectively.

Is October going to be the spooky month where AI hacks an exchange? 👻💀🎃

Feels like we’re due for another exchange wipeout. Too much fiatcorn. CC+Liquid+An Exchange is probably enough to start a global debt spiral on debt backed corn, which would cascade into trad if we can start hitting the treasury company margin calls.

Wiping out the treasury companies would be good for Bitcoin long term. A proof of work system backed by proof of debt is a double spend of logic. In reply to nevent1q…nw27
_________________________

Yeah I’m fine with that tradeoff, because I think it forces us to confront the more fundamental question of what is a block?

We are told SegWit was a soft fork because legacy nodes can continue following the chain while seeing only the non-witness bits; sure. But then we are simultaneously told that a SegWit node which does not retain the witness cannot serve a “full block.”

Both statements need to be examined together. If witness data is part of the “full block,” then SegWit expanded the physical block beyond Satoshi’s 1 MB boundary; thus a “hard fork” thru a soft fork. Nodes literally receive and store more block data >1MB. Calling those additional bits “discounted” changes their accounting weight to avoid the hard fork; it does not change their physical size. On my finite memory SSD, 1 bit = 1 bit. No amount of fiat logic can change the physical truth of memory.

If witness data is not part of the Nakamoto block, if the 1 MB non-witness block is complete enough for legacy consensus, then what exactly is witness? It is additional consensus logic and data anchored to that block, which newer nodes choose to understand and validate.

Either SegWit expanded the block, or it defined logically necessary information outside the original Nakamoto block boundary, thus redefining what the 1MB must also contain.

SegWit is a hard fork in logic, not consensus; thus is equivalent to a hard fork of consensus. It was ingeniously constructed to remain a consensus soft fork from the perspective of old nodes, but it changed the what newer nodes mean by a complete block. A soft fork that redefines the boundary of a block to explicitly break blocksize consensus. The old node says the ≤1 MB object is sufficient to follow its Bitcoin consensus; the new node says additional witness information is necessary for full validation and calls the witness-inclusive object the full block.

So what did we actually win in the blocksize war? I call bullshit that we won. Your point literally proves the blocksize changed size to serve full blocks.

If “winning” meant preserving the physical 1 MB block boundary, then why must a modern archival node store more than 1 MB per block to serve what we now call full blocks? If the answer is that witness doesn’t count the same because it receives a weight discount, then we haven’t preserved the physical boundary, we’ve changed the definition of the boundary by literal fiat (decree). My node is agnostic to the witness or non-witness serialization of bits physically.

I cannot make everyone else answer that question the way I do. But on my machine the answer can be objective.

1 bit = 1 bit
L0+L1< 1MB

If that means I no longer serve every witness-inclusive historical block that another SegWit node calls “full,” I accept the tradeoff. That disagreement over what constitutes a “full block” is precisely the experiment.

Consensus can declare witness bits discounted, but physics cannot. No amount of fiat can change the truth. So maybe it’s time for Blocksize War II, this time the plebs actually count the bits. Constrain L0+L1<1MB; give L0 first claim on Satoshi’s blockspace, and make L1 fight for what remains through fees and efficiency. 1 bit = 1 bit. 1 MB = 1 MB.

Verify, don’t discount. If enough plebs do this, it will hilariously start breaking SegWit and that is the point. We were told the small blockers won, yet apparently serving a “full block” now requires serving >1 MB. Fine: run your own node, define the physical boundary on your own SSD, and let’s finally find out who actually won the blocksize war.

Let’s see what transactions survive the 1MB block and who didn’t pay enough fees. You can’t force me to subsidize access to 1MB blockspace by arbitrarily defining additional memory outside of the blocks necessary to serve full blocks…..
