We went to visit him, and I got to sit with him in my lap for an hour before a vet showed up to tell us their recommendation. Then another half hour after that. Lots of purring and snuggling and hugs. He told me he love me and I tried my best to make it clear I love him too.

He died in my lap.

I'll try to stay off socials for a while. I want to burrow into a dark cave and sleep all winter and not know or feel, but I'll force myself to eat, and do garden work, and read. Not tonight, though

There has been purring and rolling on his back already. Happy to be home! Happy to see me! Happy to see food! And rolling around on a new to him bed in a colour he likes, a huuge dog bed, but I know he likes dark green and often chooses it.

I got the diamine calendar today, and I opened the box and checked the labels in all the ink bottles. Down to one (1) scented ink, so if you (by which I mean I, but maybe also you?) throw out the scented ink unopened, there's still 24 inks. Also two other gifts, one of which I had guessed from promo photos, and one which I hadn't. Pretty good value, overall.

I picked up a 6p of cartridges of Diamine Wild Strawberry and I have to admit it's a very good red. I see why it's frequently recommended. Firetruck bright, very very slight sheen, seems well flowing (far better than the last red ink I tried in the same pen).

I like the leuchtturm Bulletjournal books, 120gsm paper, but with some guide markings on a dot grid. They handle most (99.5%) of my pens well. And they're hardcover!

What I have liked about the TJ is having the calendar separate from the running notes and lists. Using a large notebook doesn't really give me that, even if I draw it up ahead in the front (it's impossible to judge how long it'll take me to go through a book, so far we're at 6 weeks at the low ends to over 2y on the high).

I'll see if I want to keep the TJ on as calendar only after that, or if I'll go back to a bj inspired setup with calendar pages in a hardcover a5 notebook. Or use a smaller book as a companion calendar to the main notebook, that's easier to bring. I've been eyeing the leuchtturm quarter booklets, for example. I could also just make my own with smaller slimmer notebooks.

On the plus side going back to a5 hardcovers lets me make inroads on my notebook stash.

I didn't take pictures, but today when I swatched some inks, Troublemaker Kelp tea came out really splotchy and weird on a colorverse card, and like I expected on tsubame, so just for the heck of it I got out one of my wearingeul cards and it looked completely different. yea, jetstream is another company that makes hybrid stuff like that. I find this pen most comparable to the jetstream edge, with about the same line width, similar inks, and metal bodies. Of them the Ohto one is smoother, and has a more satisfying mechanism. The Jetstream edge has some plastic detailing like the button.

Another thing I like about the ohto: it uses intl standard refills, so the possibilities are endless.

I picked up this Ohto clicky pen, it's supposed to be a gel pen according to the shop I bought it but the ink quality looks ballpoint to me (that particular sheen of a black ballpoint ink).

It wasn't pricey, but damn. The build quality feels amazing (all metal), and the click button while loud is extremely tactile, I love it. Also, whatever this refill is, it manages to be among my smoothest pens while being very fine. Comes in several colours.

I have glass self-watering bulbs for my plants in the not-sunny window (fire risk to have them in full sun), and one just fell from 2m height when I was putting it back and I failed to push it in enough before letting go. I screamed because I was sure there was broken glass and water all over my desk and paper and also because shock, but the bigger surprise is that it didn't break. Haven't got the brown one yet, waiting for a Swedish shop to get it in (I asked and they agreed to order it, and I got to wish nib sizes because they won't get all of them), but I want this too. I think maybe finding the right bp meds will fix it. The two I've tried I've reacted to (one anaphylactic, the other one hives and continuous asthma attacks that the inhaler did nothing to fix). Starting a new type tomorrow (hopefully, if it arrives), but it's one that'll take time to get to an effective dose. welp, my Krita is in Swedish which in itself is a challenge.

The first menu, create a new document, has menu choices in text, but the words are clipped and I can't find a way to see the entire title. Very cryptic and I don't know what those menu choices do.

I clicked create on a random one just to get a file.

I do get a mouseover name on the small icons in the left menu, but I don't know if we are talking about the same menu, and maybe not the same version of the program.

I have Krita on my work computer but I've never started it ...

I'm sure I picked out some stuff I thought you'd like in particular but hell if I can recall that far back. I'll be /really/ curious to see your swatches of the inks though and if the pink is UVreactive (I was swatching cartridge inks today by knocking them twice against the swatch card and then swirling with a cocktail stick, and started wondering where that letter was!!)

There's some people who have a papershop, or rather bujo shop, online, but they're in this county, and their impulse control is worse than mine, they're fun! Also they go "uh we've been to a fair we need space here half price off all of these random things!!" so they're my main provider of paper. They don't do fountain pens much at all but have a handful of inks, mostly Herbin. And anyway half price off sale yay! New ink day!

#fountainpen adjacent: I picked up one of the glass nibs advertised for Jinhao 82, and stuck it in one of my franken82s with a transparent cap (so I'll remember that it has a glass nib). I have quite a lot of glass dip pens but I have to admit I'm pleasantly surprised. It looked like it was going to be sharp and scratchy, but what I got was one of the most well tuned glass pens I've had out of the box, smooth and writing well at all angles. I'm used to having to tune them, this was very nice.

I should stop buying orange or yellow fountain pens, because I inevitably put light orange or yellow ink in them to match and those inks tend to be fussy and then I go :( at my new pen.

Yes, I have another orange pen and yes I filled it with a light orange ink I've never used before, before I remembered that I always do this.

It wrote well until I left it untouched for two days over the weekend. Not a mark on the page. A drop of water on the nib and wiping it off was sufficient to restart it, but all those air holes definitely affect the seal negatively. Boo.

The Prera which I thought did better wasn't just empty because I had used it a lot, there was so much dark and dried ink in the converter and feed, and the grip section is actually blue stained. Arrrrrgh.

Took me a long time to get it clean.

The cap is meant to post, and the heart clicks out when posted. It's a screw cap but slides on for posting. It has antichoke air holes, but there appears to be an inner cap around the nib, it'll be interesting to see what the seal is like.

The ef nib has a very soft feedback, less than a sailor, doesn't feel scratchy at all. It's ef but close to a platinum preppy fine, slightly skinnier than that. The kaco retro has a markedly narrower line.
