Why is Firefox's settings pane copied from Edge now? Everything used to be pretty flat and easy to parse, now every little thing has to be in a submenu of a submenu because the other browsers did it. Why can't I delete search engines from the list entirely, there's only options to disable them when you used to be able to right-click delete.

Google is so bad at search that they replaced their search bar with Gemini and it still got fucking worse instead of better.
Ignoring things like "AI is less of a prick helping me with my code than Stack Overflow" -- I'm sure there's other versions of that for other usecases -- the simple truth is that AI can't be eliminated until search engines get good again.

The debate is over because everybody made up their minds and nobody wants to have a conversation beyond endless cyclical pissing contests forever and ever.
BUT
When friction is the project killer and you get like an hour before that project is abandoned probably forever, because I have the wrong kind of brain damage to be autistically laboring in the code mines, being able to go from "Hey it's cool that did the video like that, that'd make a great proof of concept" to first functional prototype in like three hours on a weekend afternoon by just asking the robot for help is a compelling argument to keep asking to the robot for help.

Nobody uses his shit because he forgot the BENEVOLENT part required of a BDFL. All these fucking retards in FOSS have a really bad grasp on what's required to be a good advocate for their cause, they just see Linus crashing out on the mailing lists and say "well I can be a fucking asshole, that's easy!" and forgot all the other work that went into the justification for the crash out.
I think there's a non-zero amount of people waiting for an apology. Not like "Drew's wronged me" waiting, like "Oh thank God he's going to rehab and getting his shit together" waiting. Fishing for an excuse to actually invest in and rally behind his otherwise decent technological choices.
