There is indeed a letter written while he is interned in a psychiatric hospital at Ville-Evrard drugged and hungry.
The letter is dated of September 1939, a few lines long, contains cigarette burns and esoteric signs...
He effectively pretends to have met da bastard a few years prior in a café.
It's a complete invention born during one of his many delirium he had there and by the way, he was hopping to cast a spell to Hitler.

I arrived to the same conclusion...
He seemed to have passed his life fighting pain and trying to retain sanity (as Rusty's quote does gives a glimpse about...)
The only thing I managed to find was that he was part of movements with artists that all joined the Communist party while he refused to join which generated conflicts and "vitriolic written exchanges" ?
This seems to have created enough beef to even call him fascist ? 🤔
