Sigh. My last project at Blackberry we were doing exactly this. A dock so you could drive your Blackberry with a 16:9 landscape screen, keyboard, mouse, external storage.

Worked great too. Used my Z10 as a daily drive laptop for _work_ (all I needed were the PIM apps, browser and office suite.. rarely). Only problem half the apps didn't have a widescreen layout. You dock your phone and your desktop is this narrow portrait band down the middle of your monitor.

And then we were all laid off.

And that long term employee: they had their 1:1 with their boss four months ago. They saw the signs; they raised concerns. They've been through this before, they know what it looks like. So they asked pointed questions in private and got unsatisfactory answers.

In these cases I imagine the VPN tunnel appears as just another network interface and all you have to do is route traffic accordingly. Like map that `proxy_pass` to be `http://ip.on.vpn.net:port`

My cheap ($10?/yr) dynamic dns provider maps `https://awadwatt.com/` to the IP address assigned by my ISP. I've configured my cable router firewall to allow inbound http ports to another computer `bob`.
