so after decades of having jobs where discretion was the better part of EVERYTHING, underemployed me is trying to ramp up speaking up in my own voice, with my own opinions. It's tricky! If you say something, everybody wants to discuss it with you. I'm fairly conflict averse, and it felt like I got into three online fights yesterday just by saying what I thought.

Before the democratisation of translation, it was particularly hard to perceive what was going on on the ground wrt digital activism in some countries -- I'd say Japan and Italy were two I found most challenging.
