also, the attractiveness of working from home is quite different when you have your own home with enough room to set up a comfortable work space, compared to living in a shared house where your options are squeezing a desk into your bedroom or negotiating with your housemates about who gets to use the kitchen table

I'm probably missing something here, but is the BMA saying that 'medical professional' should be synonymous with 'doctor'? I would assume it's a broad term that also includes nurses, pharmacists, opticians, dentists, etc.
