Feel like Nintendo already gave up on the classic/throwback hardware market which has since been flooded by third party and hobbyist tier devices. I think it's a shame we never got a GB or GBA Classic even though I personally wouldn't have any interest at this point. Who knows though, their fanbase is so zealous in their loyalty that they'd probably buy a Nintendo brand Gameboy made of cardboard if it was advertised to them in the right way

Just realized I've been on Mastodon for three years now. Weird how quickly the time has gone. To all the people who live inside my computer, just want to say, thanks for being you.

Methinks this summer may be a good time to migrate over to a new instance, been thinking about making some changes around here in general and getting a bit frustrated with the experience on m.social. Stay tuned

I hope Nintendo's lawfare campaign comes back to bite them someday. I've personally lost interest in their games over the last couple of generations, but even if that wasn't the case, I wouldn't feel particularly good about supporting a company that consistently abuses their status in the industry to crush preservation efforts, fan projects and any attempt to iterate on the ideas the talented people who worked for them put out into the world.

I've had an absolutely marvelous time using the Anbernic RG35XXSP ever since I received it back in late July, incredible bang for your buck at $60.

After some extensive gaming sessions on the device, I noticed the A button has started to sink down further than the other buttons due to repeated use. Luckily, I have all the tools needed to disassemble this unit on hand. I'm free for the rest of the day, so let's see if we can repair this minor defect.

#justbeatit Growing Ties (Atari Lynx, 2019)

Creative little homebrew arcade game for an underappreciated handheld system of the distant past. Measure and cut ties of three different colors, score points based on how close you get to the correct height of each customer.

Pros: Original idea, fun gameplay, doesn't overstay welcome

Cons: No music during levels, basic sound effects

Final Rating: Men's Warehouse Training Material

Difficult to put into words how I feel about https://www.romhacking.net/ discontinuing new submissions

I've checked this website almost every day for longer than I can remember. It gets almost universal credit for helping develop my appreciation for retro game hacks, translations and homebrew

Feels like losing a longtime friend. The community will surely step up to fill the void, but it will never be the same. Cheers to one of the best looking, most enjoyable websites that ever was
