Listening to people who have seemingly never made anything talk about making things is always funny, they always seem to assume that if a person has the right credentials then making the thing is easy regardless of size, scope, or complexity (and you made a reasonable observation which I would say is very different from what I just described), or they talk like everything's impossible because, seemingly, they don't actually know how to do anything worth doing.

Perhaps, from his perspective, these conversations are just very par-for-the-course where if he has reason to believe that he's right, he almost certainly is, because, perhaps, he almost always is, where, either it just happens to be his wife that's failing to see how right he is right now, or not even his wife will just go along with how right he is. For me, when I do those sorts of things for my wife, it's probably about 50/50 between getting to see her eyes light up with excitement, and getting a comment that's something to the effect of "I hope you're going to put this all away" as if she hadn't just been complaining about something and as if I built some whole contraption for my own sake, which may be partially true but... 😂

I think I've been left biased against this stance by the fact that most of the people who I've heard espouse it have, from what I can tell, never had an interesting idea and simply want to mooch off of the capable. It reminds me too much of how many of the same people have seemingly also never worked hard, and again, seem to simply mooch off of the not lazy. And in both cases, I think I should be the owner of the efforts of my labor 🙂

Now you're just being mean 😂 Given that I'm not some kind of token Effective Altuist (and let's be honest, none of us are), I love the fact that I can pay my monthly sub and build, learn, entertain myself, and end up with some stuff that I find to be honestly useful, all without ending up with a with a bunch of clutter (like when I use wood, metal, or electrical components), or overthinking every prompt/incremental expense.

I don't think I've heard anyone argue that it's BIP110's code complexity that's the problem, it's what changing the code does or could do that people have issues with. A single lines change could easily have procedural, cultural, and game theory changes, both known and expected, and unknown and unexpected.
