Got a Dell laptop with Ubuntu 26 running on it on my first day at the new job and just like the last time I used Ubuntu / Gnome on the desktop 20 years ago, I still can’t just map caps to control via a prefs pane without installing some extra package because that won’t prove my manliness to my peers; while looking up the name of the damn package, I was told to try a cli command suggested as the “obvious way any programmer should know” except it did NOT work because that was for X11 and not Wayland. Also, I couldn’t launch a damn terminal because I didn’t know the app is now called “foot”. Jesus Christ what the fuck is even happening.

Ended up setting everything up with a bare bones sway install and at least that’s somewhat less annoying although it doesn’t seem to support my old monitor at home. And do I really want to buy a new one? Not really.

Also 45 minutes with this thing on battery and it’s down to 40% charge. Incredible.
