BTCPay Server 2.3.3 is out 🚀

Fixes issues with Coingecko rate provider - it's now discontinued and updating will migrate stores to a recommended alternative automatically. In case a recommended rate source cannot be found, you may need to manually select an alternative to CoinGecko to mitigate the issue.

2025-05-15T02:47:15Z

We are aware of a critical issue with NBXplorer being unable to process specially crafted transaction in the Bitcoin blockchain block 896727.

Our team has already deployed a fix. To resolve the issue with your BTCPay, update your NBXplorer to version 2.5.26.

If you're on the 2.x branch of BTCPay Server using btcpayserver-docker, simply click Update button in Server administration (or run http://btcpay-update.sh) and the issue will be resolved.

If you're on a pre-2.0 version and aren't ready to move to 2.x yet, you can switch to the 1.13.x branch and use it to bump the NBXplorer dependency. https://github.com/btcpayserver/btcpayserver-docker/tree/1.13.x

Thanks to everyone who reported the issue and allowed us to quickly deploy a fix.

For more details, please visit GitHub and review NicolasDorier (nprofile…v5ym) PR: https://github.com/MetacoSA/NBitcoin/pull/1269

New version of BTCPay Server?

quoting nevent1q…w36v
BTCPay Server v2.1.0 is out!!!

🔐 New MultiSig experience
🚅 New fee acceleration (RBF + CPFP)
🏬 New integrations Shopify V2, ecwid & Ghost

🔌New Plugins (Cash Payment & Satoshi Tickets)
🧩Removing XMR and ZEC community code and moving it into separate plugins

🔒 MultiSig received a complete makeover thanks to ROCKSTAR (nprofile…nxal) & kukks (nprofile…97pe). You can now easily manage collaborative custody with multiple signatures, coordinate signatures (by sending an email), sign via any hardware wallet and get email notifications whenever there's a status update.

https://youtu.be/V95pLvVTAqM

⚡️We've significantly improved fee acceleration. Merchants can effortlessly speed up transactions stuck in the mempool using Replace-By-Fee (RBF) for outgoing payments or batch-accelerate incoming transactions with Child-Pays-for-Parent (CPFP) without relaying on a third-party service and paying additional service fees for acceleration.

https://youtu.be/PW7Vtc3J3o0

🧩 ZCash and Monero support has transitioned from the core BTCPay codebase to community-maintained plugins. Merchants using XMR or ZEC will be promoted to install plugins for smooth migration and backward compatibility.

Modularization of the payment method support is another step towards having a leaner BTCPay core codebase, while external features can evolve independently under the supervision of their own maintainers and communities.

🛒 Shopify V2 is here! Our integration now fully supports upcoming Shopify API changes, ensuring a seamless migration. Merchants must upgrade by August 2025 to maintain uninterrupted payments on their Shopify stores. Thanks to ndeet (nprofile…mqwn), HipPreacher (nprofile…4zay) and NicolasDorier (nprofile…v5ym) for their work.

https://youtu.be/CtOCxBiN0pY

👻New Ghost integration (by HipPreacher (nprofile…4zay)), empowers content creators and publishers to accept Bitcoin donations, set up paywalls or offer memberships all effortlessly managed through BTCPay Server.

https://youtu.be/L61fs3gzXOw

📱Our Ecwid integration (by SolutionsNisaba) allows merchants to easily accept Bitcoin payments and sell across popular social platforms like
Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. This opens Bitcoin acceptance to Ecwid’s extensive user base of over 665,000 users.

https://youtu.be/5NOJBnQjsLc

🔌 Introducing new plugins: Cash Payment Method by ROCKSTAR (nprofile…nxal) simplifies cash transactions for physical merchants, while Satoshi Tickets by HipPreacher (nprofile…4zay) provides an integrated event ticketing solution directly within BTCPay Server.

🛠️ We've also improved the Plugin Builder! Enhanced verification processes now ensure greater plugin integrity. Expect featured plugins highlighting and bette verification tools to verify reputable developers - soon!

💚 Huge thanks to our incredible supporters and contributors! We couldn’t build this FOSS tech without you: Spiral (nprofile…xv7m), OpenSats (nprofile…5h0z), Tether (nprofile…n38x), HRF (nprofile…rzcm), LunaNode, Wallet of Satoshi (nprofile…zreu), Coincards.com (nprofile…uy0n), IVPN on Nostr (nprofile…2h82), unbank (nprofile…0kg9)

BTCPAY 2.0 IS OUT!!! 🚀 ...

2024-10-30T14:56:17Z

BTCPAY 2.0 IS OUT!!! 🚀

https://blog.btcpayserver.org/btcpay-server-2-0/

BTCPay Server 2.0 realigns the internal architecture with the lessons we’ve learned since 2017, positioning us to better support both plugin developers and ourselves as we implement new features.

🌎New interface localization
🧭New sidebar-only navigation
📲New onboarding flow for new users and Point Of Sale
🏬Three new e-commerce integrations @Wix, @Odoo & @BigCommerce
🙌Checkout v2 default
🎨Branding enhancements

While it may not seem immediately obvious, we expect users to see the full potential of 2.0 in the upcoming months, as the ecosystem continues to thrive and build on top of it. With BTCPay Server 2.0, we’re introducing breaking changes in our API that allow us to eliminate the technical debt that has accumulated over the years.

Updating to BTCPay Server 2.0 is a one-way process with no option for rolling back. Because of that, we're making it opt-in, requiring that you SSH into your server and run:

git fetch
git checkout 2.0
btcpay-update.sh

Seamless integration into existing systems remains one of our top priorities, and we’re excited to introduce three new e-commerce integrations that expand the possibilities for merchants:

- Wix
- Odoo
- BigCommerce

If you use plugins with your BTCPay Server, you might notice that some are disabled after updates - we do that to prevent server crashes.

If you use plugins with your BTCPay Server, you may notice that some are disabled following updates - we do this to prevent server crashes. If you rely heavily on plugins for your BTCPay operations, we recommend that you double-check compatibility and look for announcements from plugin developers regarding their support for version 2.0 before proceeding with the upgrade.

Boltz (npub1psm…8970) has updated their plugin, so take a look at it how they did it as an example.

In the end 💚 Thanks to all that contributed

With 2.0 we wanted to do all the hard work, most of which may be invisible, but it sets a great base on what we’re aiming to do in 2025. Keep an eye on the upcoming minor releases that we’ll ship if we notice any bugs. In the next few big releases we’re hoping to ship some of the most requested features that further enhance our mission.

Super-special shout out goes to our community testers, who went beyond and above testing the 2.0: @cypherpunkstore Decentralized (npub1qqq…hrhr) Djuri (npub1k5f…vqg2) @JoinStrainly.

We hope you enjoy what this update has to offer. As always, thank you to our invaluable contributors, who directly participated in making 2.0 possible: Dennis (npub14j7…gtpf) @dstrukt @jackstar0512 kukks (npub1y24…z2ad) ndeet (npub1qm7…74md) NicolasDorier (npub1zfy…m60l) @nisaba Pavlenex (npub1za0…dur3) @TChileta webworthy (npub1rj7…jpw2) ROCKSTAR (npub1j8y…vrvg)

Final thanks - of course - goes to https://foundation.btcpayserver.org supporters who are ensuring our FOSS work is sustainable and are helping us make this tech available to everyone!

🚀 New Case Study

During Riga Bitcoin Week, #Bitcoin shined as the payment method of choice, with €27,582 in revenue from 2,998 Lightning Network transactions at both hodlhodl (npub1yul…ncdu) The Baltic Honeybadger & Nostriga conferences! ⚡🇱🇻

This case study explores the collaborative efforts of the conference organizers hodlhodl (npub1yul…ncdu) Nostriga, BTCPay Server, together with Blink Wallet (npub13lj…cfhw), Bitcoinize, MyPlebTag and Bolt Card (npub1may…hl50).

📗Full case study:
https://blog.btcpayserver.org/case-study-bhb24-nostriga/

Merchants and customers loved the experience, and 100% of merchants are ready to accept Bitcoin again next year, with 75% open to using it beyond the event!

Download a nicely looking PDF 🔗
https://btcpayserver.org/case-studies/bhb24-nostriga.pdf

The star of the show? BoltCards. Attendees used these NFC-enabled cards for tap-to-pay transactions, making Bitcoin feel just like using a credit card. These cards processed a whopping 86.8% of payments at Nostriga! 💳

The experience also underscored that Bitcoin adoption goes beyond technology - it’s about building relationships, abstracting technological complexities through familiar UX, and supporting merchants through the process.

Big thanks goes to our supporters who are ensuring our FOSS work is sustainable and are helping us make this tech available to everyone! 💚

🚨Not everyone knows how to deploy a server, but everyone can run an app on their phone⚡️

We've teamed up with Spiral & LDK and began working on the BTCPay App.

Aiming to replicate the success and impact of the BTCPay Server for e-commerce payments, the BTCPay App is laser-focused on brick-and-mortar business.

To scale #bitcoin effectively, lightning must be user-friendly and non-custodial for mom-and-pop stores!

We're beginning a long journey, but it's the only way to stay on track with our mission -ensuring anyone can accept bitcoin, anywhere, anytime without intermediaries. 🚀
