It's amazing how this community has come together in recent years from various fragmented/local efforts and across roles and organizations. Unsurprisingly we can achieve a lot more when we collaborate.

A bunch of things seen as "normal" today (such as #Transitous) I would have considered entirely out of reach not too long ago. And this is all still just at the beginning.

There's also still some work needed to polish the application and framework side of this, being able to test this on Linux now helps quite a bit well.

Support for the xx-cutouts-v1 #Wayland protocol landed in #Qt yesterday, which means Qt's SafeArea API will then also work with Wayland compositors supporting this protocol.

So far only phosh (npub122d…rrm4) implements this on the compositor side, now #KDE apps will have the means to stay away from display cutouts/notches there automatically, reusing all the work we have done for this on the app and framework level for Android already.

And it showed the same bottlenecks we had already seen during the recent heat waves: notification delivery is slowed down and eventually stalls entirely due to about 40% going to push servers that rate limit under such conditions. Mozilla's and #KDE's push servers carried the bulk of the notifications, without hitting limits.

At HTW Berlin in Schöneweide for working on tagging and modelling issues of indoor spaces in #OSM.

Some of this has proven challenging over the past years as it requires to carefully balance easy mapability and maintainability, the needs of 2D, 3D and tactile rendering, graph- and area-based routing, BIM compatibility, and being able to model all accessibility-relevant properties. Let's see if locking people from all those areas in a room for two days helps :)

There's a few people in #opentransport:matrix.org looking at this for archiving static and realtime data as well. While the focus there seems to be efficient differential storage, there's probably quite a bit of overlap.

For offline routing there's also experiments using extracts in the MOTIS-internal data format in client apps directly, together with CoMaps.

Not sure that's possible, we don't touch the font at all, this is the default Qt gives us. And it would need to be done consistently in all components that provide UI as well. The proper solution is to fix this in Qt.

Beobachtung über die letzten Monate dazu hier: Es scheint eher zufällig zu sein (tendenziell häufiger im Ausland, seltener im ICE WiFi). Wenn man davon getroffen wird hilft es den User-Agent zu wechseln (egal wozu!). Das Spiel wiederholt sich dann alle paar Anfragen.

On the way back home from joining the FOSSGIS Verein (npub18x8…fzxm) Community Meeting at Linuxhotel in Essen for two days, for working on various organizational details for the Open Transport 2026 (npub13py…9w0z) conference.

We should be able to open the registration soon, later than originally anticipated but at least we wont have to run a 100+ attendee conference as a few individuals without a legal entity behind this anymore.

I'd say this isn't even limited to flights but common to all (long distance) travel. Both multi-criteria routing algorithms and UIs for more manual control (e.g. [@trans_europe_planner](https://fosstodon.org/@trans_europe_planner )) are being looked into to help with that.

Cost/availability is currently tricky to consider given the lack of open data. But e.g. optimizing uninterrupted sleep time on night trains could be possible.

Either way, the first step is getting the basic schedule data in, all the above builds on top of that.

Changed #KDE Itinerary to use a new API for Deutsche Bahn coach layouts after the previously used one disappeared. At least we got a small benefit out of that, quantities for vehicle features such as bike and wheelchair spaces.
