If you publish journalism, this is worth your time.

The Journalism Code of Practice puts some backbone behind the basics: tell the truth, show your work, serve your community.

It covers accuracy, independence, accountability, harm minimization, and even how AI should be used (supporting humans, not replacing them).

Ethical journalism isn’t a vibe. It’s a discipline.

RE: https://mstdn.social/@stux/116002476574325878

It’s absurd that instance owners have to beg for support like it’s a favor.

If you rely on a service, do the grown-up thing and help pay for it.

Servers, storage, moderation, and uptime aren’t powered by vibes.

Even $5 / €5 helps.

Check your server’s About page. If you can afford a coffee, you can afford to contribute.

Parting shot: if Mastodon really cared about growing the ecosystem, funding tools would already be built in for #Mastoadmin use. Looking at you, Eugen Rochko (npub1vl7…f6g0) 👀

Me: Quietly humming "They paved paradise and put up a parking lot.”

The White House once had a rose garden... a space built for reflection, diplomacy, and care.

Now it’s stripped bare naked and paved.

Maybe it’s just landscaping. Or maybe it’s a mirror.

🚨 IT’S FESTIVUS, AND I’VE GOT GRIEVANCES. 🚨

2024 has been A LOT, and I’m done holding back. The planet’s on fire, billionaires are racing to Mars while we can’t afford rent, and politicians are treating democracy like a suggestion.

I’ve made my list of complaints—it’s long, it’s salty, & it’s all true. Scroll through, feel the rage, and add your own grievances. Because honestly? This year needs to hear it.

The aluminum pole is up, and I’m ready.

20+ Years in news and journalism I don't trust polls.

Polls are be misleading—it's about who was asked, how questions were framed, and the timing. They often turn real issues into a numbers game, fueling horserace journalism that focuses on winners and losers instead of the deeper story.

Always question the data—headlines don’t always show the truth.
