I lived in Seattle for three years, and that was during the WTC protest in '99. I didn't participate, but I was curious to see things from a distance.

There were definite masked feds. The shoes are a dead give away. They often forget that detail. There are also looters who like to get involved.

The 'Murica public access system works thus. You take the classes, learn the equipment, and then get an annual "budget" to use the equipment. But you can't cash out that money. You're charged for their equipment that you use, so that all members have "access" to it...

Speaking of loyalty and devotion to this... the actress who plays Sara also moved from Tucson, but was insistent not to be replaced. So I told her I would write her scenes for the last three episodes and film them in advance.

Also all the local musicians featured... free music use for a filmed video. It was a special experience, now that I think about it.

So no money is given to you. It's just a balance sheet for use of the equipment. And I didn't pay, nor did I have the money to pay, anyone. This was 100% volunteer, including crew, extra characters, art, makeup, and so on. It was experience, and footage for a demo reel for all.

The only two members of the cast that we replaced were the Terry and Kendle character, ONLY because they moved from Tucson.

WAY too talky. But instead of "going to film school," I just went out and did it. And these actors were great... no-pay and they stuck with it for two and a half years to the end.

Perfect for Halloween... this one made it into various film festivals. Written, directed, edited, and all sound stuff by me.

When you have no budget filming, a lot of times, you put yourself as an actor for the simple reason that... well, you know you will be there, and one less person you have to worry about.

Walley was a stunt actor, in my TV series, Scazz-Rik-Tobin. It's all silent until the end, when the story is explained via end credits.

Going through the third season of Heroes now. Season two got screwed, due to the writers' strike at the time... cut in half and rushed.

This is only the second time (now that I got it on DVD) to watch it. Nice tight storytelling.... stuff tied together... and I forgot that Robert Forester, ALSO in the last (third) season of Twin Peaks, plays Nathan and Peter's father... and throw a bit of McDowell into the mix... fun times... 👍
